agreed sounds like you done enough mucking around, if you can change i would consider it.
have a look at sky broadband if its in your area, they put there own equipment into bt s exchanges so they look after it. since youve got sky + you ll be able to get it, if you use that link sam knows it will tell you if youve any llu suppliers in your exchange look for easynet thats who sky bought to provide broadband

bulldogs has had some horror stories but that was a while ago, have a look on there forums or search the net see if theres any recent issues.
i seem to recall massuer has going to bulldog but not sure if he did or not.
yes ntl and telewest are cable, if available they come and run a cable to your house and set it up bit like sky will have done drill a hole in the wall and push a cable through. you can get just broadband or you may wish to change your telephone and tv to them as they can provide the lot.
if you can get telewest theyve gone hd and have a system similar to sky plus on there hd boxes, ntl are still trialing theres or they are were i live

depends on were you want your computer in relation to the service you choose. if its cable they ll put the line were you ask (within reason) if your gonna go with sky or the like you ll still need to plug into the main phone line box.
i would nt think it would hurt to get a wireless router either way (just dont get one till you know which provider your changing to) sky give you one for free n bulldog charge about £50 extra for a wireless one.
also if you ve only got 1 comp you may get another in the future so you could share files stream music etc to it or download on one whilst surfing the net on the other.

I am on a Linksys Wireless WAG354G and Tiscali and its works a treat. But i had to get a Modem/Router rather than a router alone.

I havent had problems on Tiscali apart from the whn the BT Exchange near me went tits up, but wasnt Tiscali.

In my old house, i have NTL and worked great but that was a fixed line (10m cable).

My two pence for you
