I've been eagerly waiting for the P990i ever since it was announced over a year ago. I have been so dissappointed and shocked with the phone after reading various threads. I've had a p910i for two years and want to upgrade, initially with Orange ( as my work sim is with Orange) but am not sure whether to replace my P910i at all. I use P910i all the time for work and personal stuff and can't afford for it to be crashing/need new firmware upgrade or going back to be upgraded.
I honestly don't know what to do.
Option 1) Stay with what I've got
Option 2) Risk it with P990
Option 3) Wait for P990 replacement
Option 4) Try a different phone manufature, but who and what phone?

Phone up the upgrades people and ask to be put on the back order list so when one comes up there will be one reserved (so they say) for you!

@Mr[Nik]
Can I still do that if my account is a corporate account. As far I know, only nominated individuals from our firm can talk to Orange.

Guys, the Orange P990 slagging is getting silly, i've been using mine hard since i got it & have a constant wifi hookup from an unknowing nieghbour, so free surfiing, it all works PERFECTLY, not one single foot wrong, i puut my sim back into my old P9 to move some files over & the old P9 felt like a 2yr out of date phone in comparisson, even my screen size worries were groundless as the screen size is almost identical in area, if the branded P990's are "messed up" all i can say is the sim free version must be truly amazing, because i am totally impressed.
also, networks are OBLIGED to offer unloccking after there contract with you expires, so all this scaremongering about unlocking is foolish.

Not sure what you mean by that. Orange will CHARGE you for an unlock code, even after your contract has 'expired'. They will let you have an unlock code during your contract - but you will have to pay the rest of your contract up front. Any phone I have had from O2 has arrived unlocked.
As a long-term fan of Orange - I've just cancelled a contract I have had with them for 10 years - I really think they are one of the poorest networks now.

Yea Orange have gone well down hill, but 8yrs ago they gave out sims with free texts for life & OVP Virgin contract sims with no monthly charge for life, i have been using a combiination of the two for ages & my mobile bills are about £5 a month, Orange are no longer the best customer service BUT i fiind the signal (the single most important thing) fantasic.
Yea about unlocking, what i said is, they can only hold you to using the handset SOLELY on their network for the duratiion of the contract, its normally in the small print of the contract, then it is only reasonable they will offer for free or a small charge to unlock it, i find it extremely hard to believe a P990 cant be unlocked as was mentioned earlier, its just typical network scaremongering.

you could unlock a p990i from orange right now if you wanted anyway. All it would cost is £20.
Just buy a brand new PAYG sim card from them, register it with the P990i IMEI, then request an unlocking code, costs £20 and should be received within 2 weeks.
Doesnt matter if you only just got it on a contract as you are registering the PAYG number to it and orange will give out the codes for that no problem.
It doesnt matter if the phone is new out or not been released on PAYG as this method was tried and tested by me to unlock my gf's Nokia N80 a few months ago
