With the M600i I find the memory management is sometimes a little crude - ie, opening one application will sometimes result in an error message from something else which has been shut down in the background. On one occasion I opened the browser, it immediately crashed with an error message (while at the same time shutting down the paused media player) and then opened just fine when I tried it again. But that aside I don't seem to be having any trouble with memory leaks, or freezing, or restarts, or anything like that. I do have Swiss Manager installed, mostly out of curiosity to see what's running when, but I don't have it running constantly and I rarely use it to shut anything down.
I'm not saying this to annoy any P990i owners, just pointing out that what some people are experiencing is not necessarily the norm, and is certainly something that can be improved in firmware.

@Boinng
Not annoying at all. I would like to have stable memory as in P910, using 10-15 application at the same time without any worry about RAM i.e. problem caused by it, but that's not reality at the moment. So I choose to care about memory and in return got all P990 functionalities at my disposal, and I do need those functionalities as I can't go back to P910 or any other less-feature phone at the moment. Those are almost too good to be true and believe me I use them like anything.

thanks for the insights. question about the RAM. will adding an extra 2GB stick duo make a difference? or does the phone have to use the internal ram to run the apps? i mean can't we put like a buffer or virtual ram/swap like we do with these windows pcs?

I'm afraid the memory stick is for storage only - the operational ram is the important bit, and that's all internal (it's also a lot faster to access than the memory stick).

hopefully SE comes up with a way to increase the RAM, like say swap the existing with bigger ones just like in PCs lol....or release the newer ones with bigger RAM....although i am still keen on getting the p990 to replace my p910

Let me give you an example of how do I taking care of memory usage. A few hours ago I went to a dentist with my wife. There were two people before us so while waiting I listened a radio and browsing this forum. While reading posts and listening music I received and sent some sms. Then my turn came and because the dentist is my cousin I thought it would be nice to take a few pictures there. And here is important moment. If I did that I would possibly end up with kern err, restart or even phone blocking. So knowing that I went to swiss manager (where I could see around 4MB free RAM) and closed runing applications. Then I took a few shots and sit on the chair.

yeah when you close the flip it can close everything and there is another option to clean up when idle

Yes, yes it can be done automaticaly. I just wanted to stress the importance of careful memory usage in order to avoide all those nasty things that caused people get angry:)
edit: you use automatic clean up only if you want to turn off all runing application and it is the best option when you want to put your phone in the pocket. You just close the flip and the phone is automaticaly ready for next usage. But sometimes you need to close only some application. In that case you do it manualy. Also I don`t use that "idle" option because in many cases I just temporary left the phone and want to use an application after a while so i don`t want it to be closed.
