One other advantage of my W880i is that it came free on a contract. Yes it does cost me £25 every month but that includes talktime, messages and data.

Those of you that remember 5yrs ago that the iPod debuted for 1 full year on the Mac platform first, before windows will remember that this acts not just like a regular external HDD, but also can seemlessly carry your apps & login profile & settings from one Mac to another. When logged out/disconnected the owner of the other Mac will not see your login ID nor can use it or the apps you have associated to it from that ipod because those apps (say Illustrator is not installed.
Also, iPods can play MP3's Videos in VGA resolution, of course not the Mini/Nano's but its their usuage.

) THEN its not available to the walkman lineup.
There is a HUGE subculture now & status quo with the iPod that it'll take years, possibly a decade for anything to reach the sales and after market following of the iPod.

but i believe "WALKMAN" as a whole can be....
"CAN BE" i mean within a year max!
every one wants everything in one package and sure WALKMAN is one of them!
eveyone has a phone these days,they carry it everywhere and considering a youth they will have a music player too!so why not have both in one piece?
the w800,810,considering its price now,sure is a logical replacement to a nano or any low-end i-pods and other players.
i.e the WALKMAN has already dominated the low-end music player market.
then comes the i-pod video,well WALKMAN already started to play with them with the W950,but yeah they havnt dominated the higher market but within a year....it will,probably with its successor.
if you say "NO",why is the release of i-phone?
if APPLE really thinks that the music phones are no threat to i-pod's then why did they make a music phone?
simple they know the future is "music-phone"
i beleive within a yr or 2 ,"music players" will be out of the game,yeah but give em time!

Yeah, one year from now previous ipod owners will be buying iphones instead of walkman phones, so even then walkman phones wont be a threat to apple.

Well firstly most Mac users will want one, then if they follow the trend of everyone wanting an Ipod a lot of those users will convert to one. If they establish them as a fashion/ trendy item then people will consider them before another brand Music phone. The only phones that can compete on storage are the W950(4gb) and N91 in both sizes, if a expected the European version does indeed ship with 3G or 3G/HSDPA this will present real competition for established Music phone/ Smart phone makers IMHO. Only time will tell just how successful the iPhone will be but i certainly wouldn't bet against it's success or write it off as a gimmick. We are all aware of just how lucrative the Networks view selling Music downloads to their users is and their new trend for 18 months contracts if the iPhone appears at the right price on contract i don't doubt it's success.
