I do not think you can possibly compare the Iphone and the W960 they are not like for like. One is a handy device with innovative features the other is an Iphone!
After reading about the heavy handed tactics Apple are using regard their first foray into the phone market, I really cant think why anyone would want to deal with a company that has made fortune of of selling restrictive old technology music products.
I bought my girlfriend a 4Gig Ipod nano last christmas and unless you adopt Apples rules for storing music I find it almost impossible to remove music she has had enough of and replace it with new stuff! I do not want all my music (hundreds of gigs) in one place to select and deselect before I can choose what I want on a 4Gig device
Why on earth you cant just see the device as a separate drive and drag and drop to and from it is simply restrictive idiocy on the part of the engineers / designers.
As soon as the W960 is available this usless piece of c**p will be for sale!

APPLE has made a bit of an error when the trying to flog its Iphone in France.
According to French newspapers, Jobs' Mob forgot that it is harder to screw over consumers in the EU in the same way it can in the United States.
Although Apple says it has a deal with Orange, negotiations with the French telco are running aground because they do not want the same bizarre lock-ins which have been seen over the pond.
French consumer laws specifically prohibit the dependent sale of a product and a service which means that Orange will have to sell the Iphone with and without subscription. Apple is not happy with that and, since it has refused to let Orange flog a subsidised Iphone as part of a package, there is little reason for anyone to sign up for an Orange deal.
Orange insists that it has got a contract signed and there is a chance that it will be able to flog the Iphone before Christmas. However Apple is not happy about the way that things are going.
France could be the only place in the world where the Iphone has to be sold unlocked and some Apple executives think this is a bad idea

it's not only howmany commercials they make... it's a image thing
a porche got more image/style compared to a volvo
(maybe volvo is a better car, more safe, cleaner, more hightech .... but still it's a volvo)
same with watches/cloths etc... so is a mobilephone.
an Apple Ipod Phone just got more style/image/class compared to yet another Ericsson or nokia phone....
Exactly what i was trying to explain
I personally myself like W960 , and the specs of W960 are better then the iPhone , but as mentioned in the quote , it was a good style/image/class/ ...

Some retailers do not get the w960i at all. O2 will never sell w960i.
But then you will have to switch for Tmobile to have a (reasonably priced) iPhone.
So, I think accessibility also plays a role when it comes to success. I will never swap to Tmobile, which means No-iPhone for me.

These are two very different phones and therefore hard to compare. One can only decide on which better suits one's own needs.
I have no experience of either product and have never owned anything from Apple, ever. I avoid the preinstalled iTunes on my Laptop like the plague as I find it awkward to use.
After initially being excited by the W960i announcement I must say that I am becoming bored by it and this is without it even being released yet!
It doesn't look special to me, the screen is smaller than iPhone, there's no slider unlike N95, no qwerty keyboard like P/M series, so how do they justify the Premium tag and price? The W900 looks like

best ever phone every day that goes past!
I'm more interested in the W890 TBH. And this is the problem, W960i's main competition will be from

's own products.
Same for the iPhone. At NZD$1499 it's at the very top of the market but for what features? Is it really better than keeping my V630i and buying an iPod Touch? I don't think so. If you text, call and surf the web, the iPhone is for you. But not for me, because my phones need to do more than that and MPE is hard to let go of.
The real question is: When I buy a new phone will I be able to stop myself getting a N95? I don't think so. Even though I dislike the Nokia UI and D-pad, no MPE support, my wife might kill me over the price (NZD$999, maybe less after Xmas) etc, it really outmuscles

for features and is cooler than an iPhone!
SE don't need an iPhone killer IMO, they need an N95 killer and neither K850i, P1i nor W960i is it!
