Yes i did check my firmware verson. I checked the same way as you wrote
It was send from Oslo in Norway on the 24.nov. So it must have been updatet earlier than 24.nov.

Go to the Forum section of
www.davinciteam.com and browse somewhere about Official Sony Ericsson Bulletin RSI or something. One bulletin released and quoted by GSMen entitled 'RSI : New Firmware R8BA024/R8BB001...' states that 'no more general releases of K800 R8BA024...bla bla bla..'. Sorry, I'm on Opera Mini, can't give you the exact link.

The date of firmware is 071010 meaning October 10, 2007.

ive got a k800i with the k800i version of r8ba024 and i cant find the option for the play/pause button in the settings...........
EDIT: i have just had a look for the option on my k810i on a tmobile r1kg firmware and cant find the option either

maybe that was its initial release(full of bugs probably), then they removed them and finally they released it on 24th, bugless
