GUCCI me too ive sold my tytn2 in 2 months mainly because of the size and always having to slide the keyboard out to do the basic things. On the other hand this never happened with my P800/900/990 because of their flip that makes them normal phones for a quick use of phone basics

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that some combination of TS and keyboard gives the best all round experience, and that's where WM, and indeed UIQ have been working for years. While WM does a brisk trade in pure touchscreen devices (see HTC Touch etc) it's also well geared to work with a keyboard as well, as seen on many a business workhorse. Of course it also has its non-TS, keypad only devices (in the form of WM standard), which are probably much more directly comparable with S60 phones - but then, I wouldn't buy one of those either.

The irony of the defence to S60 in this thread is that of course Nokia don't agree that S60 is fine as it is - they know that as an interface it's limited, and that people want at least the option of touch in a modern day smartphone, and that's why they're developing their own Touch version of S60. The problem is, that takes time. Like it or not, Nokia are in a position where they themselves know they're lagging behind their competitors.

SE will have everyday TS phones out on the market soon, in the form of the G series, and then a highly capable TS flagship in the X1. Nokia wish they were in that position.

If you talk about pure business/engineering apps, then WM is better because of availability of software and the track record of implementation of these apps. And it has NOTHING to do with the fact that WM uses TS. If WM did not use TS, it would still be chosen because the availability of these specialised software.

AFAIK WM is here today exactly because the TS as an integral part of it. So what the heck are you talking about?

My reply on WM on POWER business user is a reality check for the E90 or symbian owners who think it is everything. Pathetic!

If I may quote
The E90 is the most powerful hardware Nokia has ever assembled in a phone, BUT the E90 represents a downgrade in almost every practical respect

Ouchhh..

I quite like touch screens, im very much used to the one on my iPhone now, but i don't really see the advantages of having a touch screen on say the E65 for every day usage.

Hi all

Please can we try and stick to the simple facts that are not disputable, WM is not the dominant smart phone OS, Touchscreen smart phones are not the dominant factor either.

If they are your preference and what you want fair enough but that just isn't enough to prove that they are the best or necessary in fact it's wholly insufficient proof.

Now here is the really big shock for some of you Buisness smart phones are not where the growth of smart phones is coming from that is going to be Multimedia smart phones.

I also predict you will find that the Nokia Touch UI is going to be used in thier multimedia focused smart phones not Buisness smart phones. The reason that Nokia has now seen the time is right for Touch screens is due to the advances in the technology that allows them to give the user a better Multimedia experience.

Sorry Boinng but when you say

"SE will have everyday TS phones out on the market soon, in the form of the G series, and then a highly capable TS flagship in the X1. Nokia wish they were in that position"

I really doubt Nokia would be excited at the idea of losing three quarters of thier market share just for a Touchscreen. Wait and see what happens when Nokia release thier touchscreen devcies and then we will see who wins the battle of the Multimedia smart phones as i really wouldn't under estimate just what Nokia will deliver when they are ready to.
