> Sony & Ericsson- Difficult marriage?

One problem has been the total lack of marketing until the t68i came along, it seamed that every bus shelter is advertising a nokia, with good marketing the t66 would have sold like hot cakes for example, though I have never seen a t66 advert.
When you close down all your factories you have to out source production, are any current sony ericssons made in sweden?
Also having competing models out at the same time seams odd why make the r600 at the same time as t65/t200?

I don't. designwise, certainly if you're trying to build up a new brand image, a colour like that is a big mistake.
as for the P800, that's an Ericsson phone. it's in a naff SE housing, and it was delayed because they had to incorporate Sony Duostick memory (despite it restricting the phone considerably), but it's still an Ericsson phone.

Ericsson may have made good solid phones, but they were going nowhere, and loss was getting such that they were on the verge of doing away with the handset division altogether. Sony wasn't going anywhere as well with their phones, so they offered to team up with Ericsson to produce some phones. With their respective expertise, it made sense the new venture would have the best of all worlds.
In a sense, Sony came and injected money into what was going to be a failing business anyway. If sony pulled out, we would be sure Ericsson would discontinue the handset business, but sony has enough resources to hand around and eventually make something work. Total elimination of ericsson technology wouldn't be to any of our advantage.
I see them as a venture that comes up with good solid products, and worth their weight. Nothing Nokia produces comes close to what a simple SE can do, but Nokia has a certain factor that clicks with the public, and SE hasn't found out what that is. Neither has the other company that makes good solid phones, Siemens. They have been going waywards recently with all that 55 series bullshit compared to the 45 range in their bid to emulate Nokia, but I digress.
Brands that come into their own like Samsung gain strength, it's ironically the phones which try to compete with Nokia in their own turf like SE and Siemens who struggle. It would be good and wise for us SE fans to NOT pressure SE into that direction. I think they have been making good phones, but they are still only a year old. Have a little bit of patience. They will come into their own slowly and surely.

I was a nokia user before and the SE t68i made me decide to switch brands. The phone can still outmatch any nokia phone withregards to features. And now that the P800 is out, it's also another addition to SE's line up of superb phones.
I guess the problem here is marketing. People won't switch unless they know that SE phones are really better. And SE should build ties with distributors and phone networks. My country has two major networks and they actively push Nokia products. I think there's a conspiracy going on.

No free transfer via infrared or b/t like SE has gotten us accustomed to! So, Nokia besides being adored by idiots for its simplistic technology, it's also adored by networks for the lack of it!!!
