So can muslims not listen to any music at all then?

I can't imagine a life with out music. Theres probably a song I can link to a lot of experiences in my life. It's got me through good times and bad and of course, those times when your totally bored. You hear a certain song and you can say "ahh, that reminds me of being on holiday" for example

As stated above, a simple answer:

Permissibility of music

Most Muslim scholars traditionally have held that music is forbidden both by the Qur'an and by the hadith (sayings of the Prophet PBUH), as well as by tradition and believe that Muhammad (Peace be upon him) stated that musical instruments are sinful when he said: "There will be among my Ummah (followers) people who will regard as permissible adultery, silk, alcohol and musical instruments,"; many of the greatest Islamic scholars of the past, including the four imams, agreed upon this.

Muslim group disagrees with LittleBigPlanet delay decision

What do other Muslims think about the LittleBigPlanet delay? Not everyone agrees that the decision to postpone the game due to the inclusion of "offensive" Qur'anic text was the right one. In fact, M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D., president of the non-profit American Islamic Forum for Democracy strongly opposes the complaint stating that it was counterproductive to freedom of speech.

Jasser, who has also appeared on CNN and the Washington Times, spoke to Edge-Online saying "Muslims cannot benefit from freedom of expression and religion and then turn around and ask that anytime their sensibilities are offended that the freedom of others be restricted." He also argued: "The fact that the music writer is a devout Muslim should highlight that at the core of this issue is not about offending 'all Muslims,' but only about freedom of expression and the free market."

In the end, it sounds like to us that no one gained a thing from this debacle. Sony and Media Molecule take a bad rap for the delays, Muslims look ever more paranoid and distant, and everyone is left in waiting. Hopefully this series of bad decisions and wrong turns will be over soon.

Just scrolled down further to find this too:
Toumani Diabate defends his Qur'an lyrics on BBC news

Toumani Diabate, the musician behind Tapha Niang (the LittleBigPlanet track that ultimately caused the delay), has defended his track on BBC's News At Ten. "It's quite normal to play music and be inspired by the words of the Prophet Mohammed," said Diabate. "It's my way to attract and inspire people towards Islam." It seems to be a polarizing issue for Muslims, however, as Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra of the Muslim Council of Britain responded, stating that "Muslims believe the Qur'an to be the actual word of god and give it utmost respect."

"Therefore if it were to be used with the accompaniment of music or if it were to be used in a game or a commercial - that would upset and cause offence and hurt to many, many Muslims." So who's right? Probably no-one, it's all very subjective. Still, better to suffer a couple of weeks extra wait than risk offending anyone. The game will be out the "week of October 27th" in the US, with a UK release on the 5th of November (other European territories "no later than the week of the 3rd"). Though we hear that Walmarts are actually selling the game right now, if you fancy giving them a try.

I read those stories that you posted yesterday too Muhammad-Oli and was going to mention them here but I see you beat me to it

I found the comments from M. Zuhdi Jasser to be quite refreshing and in touch with reality. The world needs more people with common sense like that to speak out.

I agree! I wish someone would speak out like that for the Catholics. It would greatly help the situation with my girlfriend's dad being a b*st*rd!
