It will still be SONY of course but they are thinking of the sub brand. Even Apple has sub brands like Macbook for its laptops, iMac for desktops, ipod for mp3 players, etc.
And those who think Sony cannot design phones as good as Ericsson should really go and take a look back at the Sony Ericsson Japan phones. IMO they are as good as any "Ericsson" if not better.

Sony Xperia brand would certainly be a go...

However, Xperia phones didn't kick off.. SE literally failed with the Xperia smartphone family..
So it's not wise to keep using the same name for a band which isn't highly viewed by the consumer..

Sony need to introduce something new on every level.. Make it a complete new start..
And btw, the Sony tables didn't pick that much attention either!

Sony in general are losing much ground lately on almost all levels! There were even talks about Sony entering a slow death phase! So expectations for this shift shouldn't be that high really, but I don't think they'll any worse than SE did...

I think people tend to forget the K800 , awesome phone with it's xenon flash and superior build quality. It was the last i could honestly be really, really proud to own.

I had the silver K800i here on O2 years ago. It was the longest time I ever kept a phone. I had it 13 months A record for me I loved it for the camera,Xenon flash, build, reliability, long battery life, excellent signal strength but not the joystick
