> GUYS, 2 thumbs down for P900

I think it's all very simple. SE didn't make P900 for current P800 owners, regardless of how much we may dislike that or not. They made it to compete with other phones on the market and to keep the production running. Next upgrade will probably be suitable for us, P800 owners aswell.

SE are a large company who want to make money. They are also a company who pride themselves on innovation. SE's great strength is innovation and pushing the boundaries of technology.
All this crap about them having to get phones out there to make money is nonsense. Motorola were the world's biggest mobile phone manufacturers, they churned out thousands of phones and dominated the industry and made a lot of money in the process.
A small Finnish boot making company then decided to branch into mobile phones and through a process of innovation came to smack Motorola down a peg or two to become a collossus of the industry.
Look at Nokia now. They churn out crap each year because they have their market share and they are interested in maintaining it now. SE are building up their market share so innovation is good. SE can do a lot better if it keeps innovating and heads away from the Nokia path.
The P900 in my opinion is a step along the Nokia path. Its basically a redesigned P800, not a new phone. What a waste of time and money, when SE could have been developing a brand new concept and making a lot more money from it. SE will eventually become like Nokia if it continues down that path. Consumers don't want the same old technology rebranded, they want new technologies.
The chap who said that the P900 has all those wonderful features needs a reality check. If you already have a P800 then not one of these improvements will improve your efficiency by any great amount. If you are new to smartphones then by all means buy the P900, its marginally better than the P800 so fair enough buy it if you are new to smartphones. P800 owners really should keep their money and just wait the extra six months or so for SE to hopefully release a truely new concept. As someone else put it, don't take the small step, take the giant leap!

It's ok , if someone says his opinion, I was frustrated by the fact that he told us not to buy the phone using it for only two mins, lie for instance if I'm using a 7650 for 2 mins it seems that it's as good as the p800, but when you play with it for a week you can see the + and the - of ths phone......
I agree with you people that are saying that it isn't worth to get a p900 if you already have a p800 (I wouldn't do

) I was really saying that this litlle review was a litlle harsh and some people could (by this review) chose the p900 or the p800 by design if they have thought it's almost the same and I am saying DON'T the p900 is a much better choice for new smartphone users.....

Hope it helps.
Personally I'd go for the p900, but thats mainly because I've never owned a P800.

this is my original post:
"My first impression of how the P900 looked when i saw it earlier: it looks like a bulky , old styled, calculator.
i went to axiom and checked it out. For some reason, it seems the price of P900 is dropping fast though it was only released yesterday. someone mentioned here that it cost 2650. when i asked, it was 2599 AED which is exactly equivalent to $ 707. 60, and it was more expensive than the former price yesterday!
my next impression was when i turned it on, the colors didnt look so spectacular. The damn thing seemed to be even slower when trying to access it and play with it. The video recording and 65 k color screen DO NOT impress me at all. the volume and sound were still SHYTE.
that was my general impression really after checking it out for few minutes. I'M NOT GONNA SPEND THAT MONEY ON THIS STUPID PHONE AND LIKE SOMEONE HAS MENTIONED EARLIER, THERE ARE GONNA BE ALOT OF BETTER PHONES and some are already IN THE PIPELINE. Sorry to dissapoint some of you who intended to buy it but that was my opinion so dont go by it. you may like it. I'm a proud owner of P800 and i think it looks atleast 2wice better than that stupid looking P900. Let me tell you one thing. SE could have put all th enew improvements of P900 very simply into P800 but trying ot be savvy marketers, they decided to release 2 separate phones. My advice is, dont fall for it. dont burn your hard earned money. Check it out first and know it before you decide ot buy it. I'm really impressed with sendo X but i think it doesnt have a touch screen ability which is a bugger. SE may even release(heard some rumors) a new phone in late 2nd quarter of 2004. I'm gonna stick with my P800 until there is something really that will turn my head. Something with better sound. Better camera capabilities(some damn phones have zoom, flash and over 1.3 mega pixel camers). the sendo has a whopping 64 polyphonic sound channels..wow..according ot that review, it will give you sound lovers something really nice to think about. the memory on it is 129 with 64 ram and uses sd cards where u could have more than 1 giga of space. I will wait cause there seem to be some new phones coming up in the market.u may like the P900 but i didnt so thats my 2 cents of review"
guys, guys, guys..
will you relax?? and try to please read th epost carefully. I clearly said that i own a P800 and if you own the P800, then there is no need to upgrade to P900, IMO. The added improved features just dont cut it out for me. As for people who don't have the P800, then ofcourse it would be the smart thing to get the P900 instead of the P800 cause it has improved features.
I'm not gonna dosh out $700 to get profiled rings or whatever, get 65 k colored screen or to have a vid recording. Thats absolutely crazy it hink. Believe me, if there were new things on the phone that would have made me go "WOW" i would have been the first one to rave about it really. And even the look of it didnt appeal to me at all. It didnt stand out at all like the P800 did when it was first released. It is perhaps faster and nice but not gonna spend my $ 700 on something that will perhaps have a replacement soon as i heard. the camera on the phone is still the same quality, the ring channels r not much improved(when i tried it) and so on. but if you don't have the P800, then probably the P900 is your best choice in the market if you want something that has feaures of those 2 phones. I hope i have made myself clear about this. We all have different tastes regarding looks an di thought th eP800 looked better than the new one.
I'm someone who is ready to give any phone or any device a chance ifthey would come out with somethnig different or improved vastly. Thats why I'm gonna wait for a while till there is something out.
Thanks

A bare P900 (without 3rd party apps) would really make me go WOW compared to a bare P800. But my P800 currently has apps that could make it match the capabilities of the P900. So I don't need to switch. I guess D_G has the same sentiments.

Damn, now I'm confused. I was pretty keen on getting a P900 but now I'm not so sure. One thing that appeals to me is the C++ and Java SDKs but no-one has mentioned those. I can not decide whether to buy a P900 to replace my T68i (which has been my trusty servant for many moons) and replace it with a P900, or to get a PDA and use Bluetooth (as I already do to snych my phone and PC) or buy a T610/T630/Z600 and save a lot of money.
oh, and have any of you got T68i bluetooth and Linux working?
