In Turkey, Aria and Aycell have merged to form a new network called TT&TIM. For the moment, a real network called TT&TIM does not exist and there's a sort of free roaming between those two GSM1800 networks; which gives a huge coverage potential that's achieved thanks to the reorganisation of both networks. That has been a major problem for those two operators since the other two networks were here since 10 years, so with a superb coverage! This message was posted from a T68i

Down to three; Aria and Aycell are now serving as one operator. Soon the name will also change...

In France we have 3 bi-band (GSM 900-1800) operators: Orange (France Telecom), SFR (Vivendi Universal & Vodafone) and Bouygues.

Orange and SFR are generally on GSM900 and Bouygues generally GSM1800.

France is probably the most "attached to the past" country in Europe, and this unfortunately deeply marks their technological level; in banking and things like that as well as in Telecom.

I think France has been the last country in the EU to have GPRS and the only country with all its neighbours having 3G networks (there's no 3G in France)

If one day you come to France from the UK or Germany for instance, you'll be surprised by seeing such a slow (connecting... connecting... connecting...), weak (even in Paris lots of underground shops are not covered) and busy (oh yes, remember that "network busy" message you see on Christmas... well, get used to it before coming to France) network!!

Voilą. But as I said it should change this summer... We'll see that!!
