The stupider they are the more money they make. Imagine a smart sales person who actually tried to sell something other than a nokia, how many phones would they sell? Not many, if any. The verdict is in: Stupidity feeds the kids.

They don't know such features of mobiles because they don't need to. It's not their fault it's just our fault till 99,99% of people still don't know what 'symbian' 'gprs' 'bluetooth' etc.. means.
Don't you realise that?? I mean you're all so smart to know about mobiles but you know nothing about real life/vast majority customers?
I wouldn't even matter studying mobile capabilities instead of marketing technics...
Please no offense intented but I've seen enough insulting sellers with no argumented reason.

Erm
Actually, if you work in mobile phone shop, I would expect them to have a greater than the average punter knowledge about phones
Its their job
U ask a waitress if the [insert meal here] has onions in it, u expect her to tell you. She might not know it, but you would expect her to go ask the chef!
I wasnt having a dig at mobile phone sales staff, I was having a dig at the technical helpline in Tmobile. Now those guys you do expect to know the complicated stuff!
I see all the mobile phone salesman have come out of the woodwork now.
Pants = calm !
I am amused at the referneces in this post to the nokia fanboys wanting cheapest pay-as-you-go phone. Funny because its true! I have loads of mates with sh*te nokias with freelancer ringtone.
Don't tar all nokias owbers with the same brush though. IMHO, the nokia 7650 started this revolution. Strictly speaking the nokia 9210 and similar were out first, but never thought of seriously as a phone.
It still amuses me when I saw people selling nokia 7650s saying "its got a camera on it!" What a phone !
Got my P900 now though

Impressed with CPW staff
Today went to CPW in Guildford to ask about flashing my P900 to make it generic. The lady I spoke to did not know if this was possible, she telephoned a colleague and told me that he would investigate and reply in a while. I went had a coffee in Starbucks. Came back and saw the same lady explain her obvious deep knowledge of how to use the Nokia 6600 (new smartish phone) to a customer. Also watched as each of the three staff dealt with each customer in a friendly and professional manner. My query was answered by the lady - I need to wait until the Guildford branch receive the s/w they need for flashing the P900 to the latest generic version (I would have to wait a few weeks). Oveverall a good experience.

here in belgium the worst phone store is the phone house
or belgacom stores, so if your here, don't use proximus, thats belgacom mobile, and its not good and not cheap for roaming

I know - I am just reporting what I found. Which is, they know about some things but not about everything. I was given the number of their person who deals with the flashing on P900s so that I could speak to him directly, which I will do on Monday.
Edit: I managed to unlock my P900 (and P800 before) but did not realise that the CDA code is what is used by the SE upgrade service to identify network phones

"As the old adage goes, pay peanuts, get monkeys."
Maybe i enjoy myself even with the mass of idiots i come into contact with every day, maybe i get on great with my workmates & have regular customers i laugh and joke with, maybe i don't NEED to earn shedloads to live my life as i wish.
To be honest i'd only buy a phone off one other of the staff in my shop as the others are muppets, you know what though? they (girls) earn as much as me by flashing a smile and it works every bloody time...p*sses me right off.
