@blount
Switched to the T-Mobile Internet plan and was able to connected like a breeze. So it does look like the t-zones plan restricts port access. Will try the product now.
Thanks.

I am also having trouble connecting.
I see the 'Orange' Logo and it says connecting... underneath but does nothing else.
My connection information says
Data Sent: 0 KB
Data Received: 0 KB!
I am on O2-UK and have an O2 Online PAYG SIM and I'm using GPRS on a P800 (f/w R2F)
Still no idea about this?

We've made a new release: OrangeScribble 2.1.2. Find it at
http://proto.orange.net/scribble
Just click the download link as usual.
Be sure to exit OrangeScribble before installing. You might have to clear the cache in your browser to ensure you are downloading the latest release--we have set a nocache flag on the server to prevent your browser from cacheing the old .sis file, but don't know if it works on all browsers. Let us know if it doesn't.
To see what version you are currently running, just check the "Scribble->About" box.
Here's the changelog:
Memory use improvement for P900
The application running on the P900 was using almost twice as much memory as on the P800. This is fixed.
Photos on text buddy list
The text buddy list (accessed from the buddy icon in the lower right) now shows for each user:
The Full Name (bold if present, red if new ink)
The JID
The buddy photo
Hard crash fixes under memory and disk stress
We noticed occassional crashes under heavy memory stress. We
believe that they are fixed.
Open Issues
We still see infrequent kern-exec3s and debug panics. If you see
them, or better yet, have some idea under what conditions they arise,
please let us know in this forum or email
scribble@orange.us
Thanks!
Alan

Can I make a suggestion...it would be a lot easier if the program would show buddies who are online on the left hand side of the "buddy bar" rather than dotted all along the bar...otherwise i think people will find themselves swaying back and forth to check who is online.
The same idea as on MSN when it shows a seperate list for who is online and who is offline.
Thanks

@MikLSP, solidsingh: Hmmm. You're both on O2 Payg, and you both can't connect. Has anyone been able to connect on O2 payg? OrangeScribble connects to the server using a TCP Jabber connection to port 5222. One explanation might be that your operator does not allow this connection to go through. You'd have to check with them--I don't know much about O2's GPRS plans!
Sorry for the trouble!
@JiggyJaggy: If you click on the buddy icon to bring you to the text buddy list, you'll notice that the online buddies are sorted to the top.
We don't sort the images on the sliding buddybar by presence because we've found that users come to know where their buddies are in the list. The images reordering themselves made it hard to find their buddies on the bar.

Fair point Blount. Im guessing somthing along the lines of sorting buddies into groups...eg work, friends, etc maybe an option.
Im impressed with your work as I work for Orange myself in the UK and have been plugging the software to business clients and especially to artists, deigners and architects who find it especially useful. Students too...cant think why they need it in lectures though! lol
