i got an email a fewmonths back about the new charges etc, at that time i didnt need to leave o2
now i need to leave o2 so this post was very timely, i rung up yest (sat) and spke to cancellations and they were cool to disconnect me with no charges and allow me to poort out in 7 days time; i have only been on my current contract for 5 months!!
i think as has always been said, it really does make a diff to your call depending on which member of staff u talk to!

They referred me 2 clause 8.2 & said as a result of them giving 30 days notice of the change I CANNOT CANCEL
