that 18 month battery life has gotta hurt those folks that fork out £200+

Unreplaceable - unlike the P900s battery....

I have both. I used to use iPod to sync with Apple to hold Addresses...

At the end of th day, iPod is for music, with very slim read-only PIM functions.. p900 is a true PDA and not for holding and listening to music as I would the iPod.

Both excellent products..

How many of you buy a high end electronic device and are still using it 18 months later anyway?
Think about this....

not being pedantic how about -

- Laptop

- portable DVD player/writer

- P900!!!! (well we will have to see!)

just a few things that you would still use after 18 months of purchase

Limited battery life in iPod...

there is much overraction to this... and alot of disinformation..

I've had my iPod since oct 2002.. and the battery life is still good.

You *can* replace the batteries.. you can do it yourself - in which you do NOT need a screw driver - get a cheap iPod battery (use google).. or, you can pay Apple to replace the battery.

I agree with MixiN in saying that it all comes down to what a person feels he\she needs. Personally I am happy having my P900 as my main music player, although I also have a minidisc player should I decide not to use my P900 to play music.
The main reason people become unhappy with any technological device that they buy is that they have no real use for it in terms of utilising it's features to the maximum.

It's all very amusing with all the people comparing features of a p900 and an ipod.

Here lets all compare my water bottle and my mobile library.

Water bottle:
+ holds stuff (water)
+ has a nice lid
+ Is clear so i can see inside

Mobile library:
+ holds more stuff
+ Nice roof, but no lid
+ Has windows
+ Has lots of books
+ Has wheels
+ Has an engine
+ Has a cute librarian lady working in it

Even though i can put water in my mobile library, i'd much rather put it in my water bottle because thats the job its designed for.

The ipod was designed to hold and play music... how can it even slightly be compared to a smartphone which was designed to be a phone with loads of various features?
