@Sage

It's impossible to have a 'perfect' phone whose flaw you point out to be the OS when all applications in that phone is driven by that very same (flawed) OS...

Good thing you changed the thread topic m8. I admire your tenacity with convincing us about a Moto phone on an SE thread. I will personally buy the P910 and the MPX because they are different phones and pretty cool. Just as I bought a Mac OS system to use for certain applications that were shortcomings in my Win OS driven PC. I think you should concentrate on the arguments that I'm sure you'll have with the MPX as we all have with every phone we get.

Actually, no they dont. They release chips which increase with 0.2 GHz. 200 MHz was a great deal only 7 years ago if you remember. Oh yes a HT Technology is a HUGE thing. These arent small things they are big things. Besides that phones and chips are entirely different things but even if we do compare them the chips change and increase hardware wise and power wise. The P910 has basically done neither. Comparing a PC to a phone is completely thick. A PC first of all, isnt something you reknew every year like a phone. The lifespan of a chip is much greater than that of a phone. I still use a 2.4 Ghz laptop and it works fine with everything I can find and I bought it 2-3 years ago. I mean what they are doing is like DELL saying to its customers "Weve decided to sell new PC's with Windows Xp Service Pack 3 which fixes all the problems Windows XP had and gives our customers things they could never have before. We can offer all this to you through software upgrades so all teh bugs and problems you were having are fixed and you can have all these new minor enhancements but we wont! Youll have to buy a new PC to get it! have fun!"

You know, I hate moto, and noone cuold convince me to go to them. The only thing that ever would is if they ever offered a better phone, which they just have done. An OS simply takes time to get used to and Windows will eventually buy out all the 3rd Party Suppport anyway. I have an IPAQ and software support isnt bad at all.

I hope there a P1k in store. Id hate to leave SE!

Gee, I missed the page in the manual where it says I HAVE TO RENEW my phone EVERY YEAR. You may still use a 2.4Ghz Pentium, and I know people who still use the old Ericsson T39. DUH! What kind of an argument is that? No one is FORCING you to buy the new phone... no one is even REQUIRING you to buy a new phone every year. If you're gonna play the "I've got the latest technology" game... then play it. No one said that you HAVE to stick to Go with the MPX. It's a free market.

Ooooohhh... HT... that's such a HUGE difference over the standard P4. (HT is like those blue headlight bulbs that claim 100W of light while using only 55W)

Quote from draak 1 :

The inside part of the flip now contains a QWERTY keypad. It can be used to enter text in all applications, with other options (virtual keyboard, handwriting in Flip open mode and Multitap/T9 in Flip closed mode) still available as alternate input methods. This makes the P910 the only smartphone with all three input methods available by default. The keys are quite small but their convex shape makes typing relatively easy and convenient. Of course, the keypad cannot be compared with full keyboards like 9500's but it can be considered a very useful addition to quickly enter short texts (e.g. SMS messages or emails) on the move and it makes it possible to input data without stylus also in Flip open (or removed) mode.

Read the last line. HOW IN GODS NAME ARE YOU MEANT TO USE THE QWERTY KEYBOARD WITH THE FLIP REMOVED???????????????

Whats all the fuss about !!

If the P900 meets all your current needs dont buy the P910
same if you have a P800.
Only buy an upgrade if its is going to significantly increase your experience or your a techno geek who doesnt mind blowing his /her cash on anything new.

@BigFeat

What are your initial thoughts on the Moto A1000 - seems to me given that it is same size, nearly, as the Pxx0 and has the addition of 3G and GPS that it may be in some ways more useful than the MPx. I say this because here in the UK WiFi is expensive and not pervasive. Also having used a Vodafone 3G datacard I was very impressed with the download speeds (I did managed the max around 340kbs) and coverage with Orange 3G will reach over 80% (I hear) by the end of 05.

Oh yes, and why does it take, waht how many months, 6 to just give us a bigger HD a bigger screen and adding buttons to a keypad? My GOD!

umm and i don't think you know how many months went in to testing i, solving all the bugs etc.

heck p910 just started production while mpx isn't very close to that considering all it's bugs! i mean cmon 7mb's of free ram in a ppc... christ i really hope they are going to fix that....

anyway p800 was a revolution and if you really think that se has 1. the money and 2. the platform they need to start a new revolution just after lets say 1 and a half year then i just want to say lol......
i mean cmon symbian 8.0 and uiq 3.0 will be availble in q4 with phones in q1 05, do you even realise how many moans we would see if se added a mp camera and lets say wi-fi in p910 and then boom 6 months later a new device on a totaly new os with more possibilites you could dream of! i mean cmon se must make money too you know! and if you don't know why they introduced p910 then seriously you are not a good economist not even close.....

Agree ! Stop with that now, it's not a total new phone, it's just an upgrade of what you all where whining on the P900. Guys complained about the duo Pro, lack of internal memory and ram.

Now that SE have heard you complains and make the P910 with all the features you all requested, it's still isn't enough ??!!!
