I want nothing for free. Nothing at all.

At this point, I couldn't care less if you are missing my point. That's not my problem. I was only curious if other Esato members also thought this was a poor excuse for an upgraded model and the discussion turned into something else entirely.

I am sorry you feel the need to understand my point. Rather, I am sorry you feel the need to pressure me to further explain my point. I disagree with you, that is all there is to it.

I think the P910 is an unnecessary/unwarranted upgrade because it doesn't fulfill enough requests for upgraded compontents of the P900. That's all there is to it.

It really pisses me off because It's not worth buying.. with a new P910 which is not a worth upgrade to P900..adding the useless qwerty keyboard just to make it a ''new'' model and some upgrade that can be incorporated to the P900.. I know it's business but all I can see is that they really are hungry for money because even for the slightiest changes they will release a ''new'' model and trick everybody to buy it.. tsk tsk

Not pissed off at all. The P910 will sell in much larger numbers now that it has RIM email and thus SE will have more R&D money for future killer devices!

As soon as I saw this thread I knew there would be some kind of argument, not that debate is a bad thing, after all it is one of the reasons many of us come to Esato.
The P910 looks like a dashed smart device, but as an upgrade from a P900 I don't believe it would be worth the expenditure. I am not in any way annoyed that SE have released the P910 and I'm not quite sure why anyone would be annoyed over a phone.
The P910 hasn't been release as an upgrade to the P900 or as a replacement, it would appear to be more of a stop-gap measure until the P1000 is released.
I wonder if perhaps some people are more annoyed at the fact that a newer model has come out and perhaps, for whatever reason, they cannot have it, rather than being annoyed at the few improvements that have been made.
Personally I shall await the arrival of the P1000, Plucky 900 serves me perfectly well at the moment.

@aleks

Exactly what form of nefarious chicanery are SE employing to 'trick' consumers?

I think one area that really should have been given a great amount of attention is the camera, the p900 aint the best and the p910 aint much better, surely Sony could have used their expertise to produce a much better camera than they have? Sony have the technology, it just needs some thought as to how to implement it into a thing the size of a phone.

I do agree that the p910 is a *worthless* upgrade, you would EXPECT more memory and a better screen, but i think they have neglected other aspects such as the camera.

So if the upgrade was huge & included everything, leaving no room for improvement would you not soon get pissed off when there was no further upgrade for a couple of years?! Or if there was another it would have virtually no changes as the previous model has everything, u'd hate that even more mate.

Picture this:
The P800 came out 2years ago with 262k colours, 64MB + 1GB Duo support, 1.3MP cam, WiFi, GPS and so on!
It would have been amazing at the time but now, 2years later, the P900 & P910 would be no improvement on it as there's nothing left!

It's sound marketing strategy. Let's face it, if SE didn't make any money then there wouldn't even be a P910 for anyone to get pissed off at!

Well that's the ugly truth. It is not about people or customers. It is about the bottom line. Nothing else. Still pissed of level is at 43%.

How come ? Does your P900 not fulfill your needs ? If it does not fulfill your needs, why did you buy it in the first place ?

I doubt if i will be upgrading, unless i get it in due course from vodafone, they are usually very reasonable with contract upgrades. I wont splash cash on it though.

No, I personally like the P910's appearance much better than the P900.

Why not add every feature under the sun? after all it'll be great to read "P980[*] only lasts 10 minutes with full change and HSP-10 (Handheld Solar Panel - Coming Soon ) but is a great phone"

Thinking of it like different models of cars is the perfect analogy.
