Ah well I say we should all just be Europeans that would solve a lot of problems.

interestingly, the entire UK competes as a single country in the Olympic Games, but in the Commonwealth Games the separate nations compete individually (i.e. as constituents of the British Commonwealth).

the Commonwealth is a bit bigger than just the 'nations' of the United Kingdom, besides it is self organised.
It is my belief that the Brits would have liked to send Scottish, Welsh, English athletes rather than 'British' ones but perhaps the Olympic Comittee wouldn't hear of it? Perhaps they simply go by 'countries'?

As i see it, i'm English. Im not British. I come from England, i was born in England and i support England.
Britain, and the United Kingdom to me are stupid old terms we should have stopped using a hundred years ago.

You only ever see UK or GB used in sporting events when we cannot muster enough team members per country
Where's @scotsboy? as I'm sure its all to do with the Queen why it's still used.

The COUNTRIES of scotland england wales NI are seperate, but they all *technically* owe loyalty to the queen, hence united *kingdom* it IS all to do with the royals, the kingdom bit, but remember the queen has no real political power, the government do. So in one sense we are all one nation, but in another we are seperate countries. Or i think thats what my history teacher was babbling on about when i was trying to look up Susan Harmans skirt
