> Branded K700i Users - Stop Complaining!

If se allows to change the fw for some operators, it their biz, but to put ugly icons and replace useless menus next to usefull features, thats unlogical and weird, see the voda crap on t610.

I think people who bought their K700i for 10 euros from Vodafone et al. lost their rights to complain about missing features. Voda et al. has the right to modify the SE software (probably has an agreement w/ SE). They are buying K700i from SE in volume at a set price and giving it to you at a heavily discounted price, probably losing money. Voda et al. make their money on the contracts, not the phone. Voda et al. can modify away as they please. They can do whatever they want with it. If you don't like it, then don't sign up. There's nothing to argue about. You get what you pay for. The End.
People with branded phone who complain too much are like people who buy a BMW 318 and expect it to perform like a BMW M3. You have NO rights. It was your choice to sign up with Voda et al. Therefore it is your fault. Get that in your thick skull. You're not the Queen of England!
Boy, can't wait until the S700i get release. These same people will be complaining about: "oh, there are so many bugs, I hate SE, Vodafone did this, they did that, where are my rights, I'm writing to customer service....etc...etc." ---And they got the S700i for 10 euros. The world would be a better place without whiners.

yes some people pay for un-branded phones but hey some people could pay even more with a contract through a year, i don't know exactly how it works in uk but here you could save a lot of money with having an unbranded one as you can for instance get almost free phone calls at vega etc etc operators gain only from locking your phone to it's network as you have to pay to them for your calls! why would they remove mp3?
that what magicman is saying is almost like saying that it is logical to get a car without a steering wheel if you pay for it on a monthly basis, cmon!
and i just have to say one last thing mobitel has more than 70% of all users here while voda and vega shares the others, mobitel also has the most expensive calls etc BUT still they don't do anything to a phone expect for locking it installing a theme which you can freely delete, why would they do anything else? i have an unbranded p800, yes i paid the whole ammount of money for it but that's because i got it quicker, not because i wanted an unbranded one, i know that i'm going to stay with mobitel for some time and why shouldn't i take the offerings they have for me as their user? why? would i wan't an unbranded version if i'm going to stay with mobitel? i pay them for the phone calls and heck they have made fortune out of that not from missing features...
it's quite sad how some people only llok at their own interests, again i say: it's just like saying you shouldn't get a bun if you pay for a burger at half the price in burger king when they got a action......

Anyways, what I think people are unhappy about is the fact that operators like Vodafone seem to think it's their right to muck about with a phone's firmware just because they're being given away free/almost free. One other point, what about people who go into a Voda store and get a K700 on pay as you go, or pay £250+ to buy the handset only? Or those who get a cheap contract, say £15 a month, and will also have to pay, for example, £99 for the phone?
Here in the UK, you could get the K700 for free - if you sign up for a year to a contract for £25 or even £30 a year, and they are now stopping you from changing to a cheaper contract after 3 or so months.
I've bought a k700 sim-free, which I'm using on my O2 contract, which incdentally is on a cheap contract - which means that I would have to pay a fair amount at upgrade time to get a phone like the k7 anyway - or increase my contract to one where I would never get through all the free mins, and pay that way instead!

1) Just because you don't pay when you get the phone doesn't mean it's free. Like someone pointed out - Vodafone charges you a higher monthly fee when you buy a new phone.
2) Vodafone has been extremely shady about their changes to the phone. Their ads (at least in Sweden) says they've made the phone BETTER. I strongly doubt any unsuspecting customers would agree when they find out they can't use mp3 ringtones.
3) Most people don't know enough about mobile phones to know what they're missing (apart from such obvious cripplings as mp3 ringtones).
I think in the long run this is going to hurt Vodafone's brand more than the phone adaptations will help it.

Complaining about branded phones is one thing. Not buying a branded phone is another, far more effective way of expressing your opinion. I certainly will not be buying any branded handsets, and if noone else did, the network providers would get a nice kick in the ass.

I got a K700i from O2 and I actually prefer it to the unbranded version.
All the settings are set up for you, the standard theme is ok considering the horrid pink theme from T-Mobile and they change 1 icon to the O2 logo which is hardly intrusive, oh and a few protected files which don't take up much space at all.
In short, don't pick on all branded phones, or rather pick on all branded phones but O2.
(Death to the Vodafone people, runined a fantastic phone!)
