I think it doubtful that SE would release another smartphone before Christmas, it wouldn't make much sense for them to have two new smartphone son the market, which would inevitably compete with one another for sales.

What would i like of the p1000....
Well for starters it should be a "real" upgrade... i.e. differing case design, like the p800 - p900 (not p900-p910), as well as enhanced spec... processor, memory, maybe even screen size, weight...
Wifi would be nice...
Better battery performance would be appreciated or maybe just a much larger capacity battery - if you pack features into a phone, then you should be able to use them for an appreciable amount of time without fear of the thing turning itself off - which has happened so many times with the P900 if it hasn't been recently charged - an end to the charging rituals of a new P9xx would also be nice... maybe these things could be said of all devices, but are important nonetheless...
And end to the 2.5" headphone jack would be nice (i hate clumsy adaptors!)...
Much better syncstation, actually exploiting USB properly would be great...
Better camera, naturally, but one that could act as a photocopier would be much more useful i.e. with a macro mode capable enough of taking pictures of pages of text for reproduction...
Better, true multitasking... this of course requires more powerful components inside - recently i noticed how playing music and playing the excellent SoldierAnts rendered a drasticly reduced framerate - not unplayable, but uncomfortable...
Also some form of connectivity port whichwould allow access to flash drive, hard disks, external monitors or projectors etc...
And theres always a need for a bigger screen with good adjustment... may result in a perceivably bigger device, may not depending on overall design...
End of saga... for now...

There is a dedicated thread for stating what one thinks the P1000 should include. I've posted the link below.

Indeed there may be, but I do recall a question volleyed on here requesting the features one may require in the P9xx successor too... actually written by a true moderator an' all...

@KSE
I was merely posting the link so that those posting in this thread could see what other members have said on this subject. Did I come across as moderator-like?

Well, it sounded like you were telling us all where to go, literally !

So, yeah, sort of moderator like... although you were lacking a certain element of the required "unaware sarcasm" !

As for waiting for something you're not entirely sure of what will be, I think that it's pretty clear what the P1000 will be. If it doesn't have a megapixel cam, some sort of better data functionality like 3G or WI-FI (preferably wi-fi for me) I think that people will be very disappointed. I know that I will probably come to the realization that SE has lost it and then look at other brands. Motorola now seems to have hired designers who are not blind or time-travelers from the 80's and of course there are other UIQ licensees than SE and Moto.
