I read, that 'deep' recharges (letting battery drop to about 10-20%, then recharging) aren't recommended for Lithium based batteries, like those used in MP3 players, Mobile Phones etc. I can't remember why though!

@maddav - Does this mean mate that it is not advisable to full drain the batt then charge it to it's max?

@JN

Did you read my post? Quotes from the experts?

It says...

Do NOT fully drain and then fully charge. This will reduce performance.

So charging once a day is...... GOOD!

This full discharge and then full charge nonsense is for NICAD cells. We do not have NiCads in our phones.

Wise words. Fully drain is recomended for nicd, nimh batts according the mem efffct. However i did it sometimes with li ion, as i know its dangerous for li pol. This message was posted from a T630

Charging it once a day . . . even though, say, it is still half-filled with power That's kinda strange too, maybe it is safest to say to charge it with at 'LEAST' a bar remaining on the batt icon - not fully drained !

@JN,

As a previous poster mentioned, have a read here:

http://www.batteryuniversity.com/

You will see that all the full discharge / full charge stuff related to Nickel batteries.

I assume you're not still using a Nokia 2140....

So you will have Li-ion or Li-poly batteries.

Save yourself the email to SE, and read the Li stuff. You will find what I posted on the previous page.

Happy reading!

Is your source here an official release of SE as well Or are they just generalizing things back there dude, re: battery's performance?
