Absolutely right vanquish...

HP R 707 5.1 Megapixel = 350 dollars + Nokia 6260 450 dollars=800 dollars and is not equal with se s s700 = 850 bucks...b...s...t.

from international org...http://www.diwa-awards.com/awards
HP Photosmart R707 has taken gold medal "Cameras / Amateur - Compact 17th September 2004"

nobody can explain me all them in my pocket with 850 bucks...overpriced...sony makes it everytime...if you talk further about s700 s specs,I can pursuit you in this category:if it has se s700x 3 or 4 megapixel with 2 or 4 x optical zoom and 8 or more digital zoom, red eye reduction, and all other phone features...otherwise talking about it s so unsense...

Yeah me too was suppriced when I saw S700i being priced at the same range at P9xx, it's an ok phone with a good camera for a phone but not so good if you compare with a much cheaper digital camera.
Don't get me wrong I think S700i is a nice phone
with a camera that is a step in the right direction
but not quite there yet for me to ditch my digital ixus.
So I'm just gonna hold on to my P900i that is a more
feature rich phone.
Also the size of S700i I can't get w/o optical zoom and
no touch screen and to my knowledge (might be wrong on this one) not dual speakers so you get stereo sound without headset.
S700i inside a razr v3 shell...well then I prolly wouldn't
be able to resist even if i would still think it was overpriced and needs an even better camera

I am not quite sure why there is such uproar over the price of the S700; the whole issue seems to come down to a very basic fact, if you can't afford it then don't buy it. That probably sounds rather snobbish, but it also happens to be true. At any rate, the S700 will no doubt come down in price before too long; if one wants to buy a S700 then why not just wait a little longer for it to lessen in price?

I am one of those people that doesn't like carrying lots of things around with me. Do I care that my S700 isn't as good as a dedicated digital camera? No. Do I care that it doesn't have as much storage space as an iPod? No. I like my S700 because it serves my needs. I have no need to take high quality photographs on a daily basis, nor do I have a need to store hundreds of mp3s either.

The fact that I bought my S700 on contract is besides the point, as Vlamm pointed out, I would need a line to be able to make calls and send texts, etc.

first of all We havent mentioned unaffordable situation here,we just try to say if we pay same money for less performance both in camera and phone, and it s the epitome to discuss more powerful and same price, why cant I ask a question myself and here? why do we pay same or more money for less performance machine? of course lots of options that people choose,it doesnt mean to prevent s700 s popularity,it means we must look this think with more reasonable ways...it s so simple and natural to look all of them with some features,prices,performance,specs,cameras,bluetooths,irdas,etc...

@Clearday

In essence we are talking about affordability. If we take a hypothetical situation and imagine that the S700 is £50, but it only has the features of a £30 mobile phone, there would probably not be the same level of criticism, yet it would still be overpriced. When we talk about overpricing in terms of £200 or so then it is a different matter, £200 is a lot of money to some people and therefore they will be unhappy at the prospect of paying that extra for something, which isn't necessarily worth it. So in effect it is a question of affordability.

How much would you realistically spend on a phone with those features? This message was posted from a Z600
