well gadgetnutter says theres a new firmware that is the R1F.. and frm my understanding vlam & scots dis agree with that..

so i juz brought up the link to show that there is R1F.. heres another link from voda_jon saying that the LATEST firmware is R1F..

It isn't a case of there being a new firmware version, merely an upgraded version of an exisitng firmware, namely R1D.

He responds to a question asking "R1E is the latest *firmware*?" with "No, it's R1F"...I'm sure a voda_jon understands "firmware"

This is where I got the original information about R1F that I previously mentioned.

I am still waiting for confirmation from my SE service centre (they are having trouble getting into the Swedish server!!)

Isnt that what it is suppose to be, an upgrade... all firmware are upgrade, thus its new.. upgrade/new = same thing.. point is, its improved..

I have just phoned SE and enquired about firmware versions for the V800. Their database was down, but the lady I spoke with assured me that there wa sonly one firmware version currently available for the V800.

No that is not the same thing. The firmware is still R1D, but it is an upgraded version of R1D.

No it is not. there is only ONE thing altered which is the ITP..... mainly because else Vodafone's own content apparently won't download. Although I have yet to meet the first person who had a problem with it....
Nothing else is improved on it. There are no fundamental 'bug fixes' like we would expect from a real new firmware version. And for people like me, who do not have a problem with the r1e ITP to begin with, that means no need to change anything at all, as nothing will improve on my phone.

Curiously, I have ITP version r1e and I *have* had problems downloading. I consistently get "Communication error, if problems persist, please contact your service provider" messages.

I just assumed it was because of patchy 3G coverage.
