surely the simple answer is if you need edge and its that important to you, you go and buy an edge enabled phone, if se dont make on by one from someone who does, never understood why people dont just buy what they need instead of expecting certain companies to do it.
its not like you cant buy an edge enabled handset.
also on new techologies i think 3g will be around for a good while since most of the companies will want a good chunk of the money back theyve spent on the license and the infra structure so 3g will be around for many a year, its bearly hit the main stream as of yet

seem to miss when other phones are targeting more markets! Its edge, HSPDA, cheaper pricing, more range of markets, target audiences, release dates, style factors, size, clamshells its a lot of things! Firmware upgrades, partnering with crap networks.
should stop farting about and get down to LIFE in hand.

BECAUSE, my phone got nicked, and i have waited patiently for 4 months for a new sony ericsson. Yet, they still persist in releasing low end phones, and high end phones, nothing in the middle.

agreed calm down i was aim the edge comment not at you since i know you dont need it living in newcastle you just open your bigs gobs up there its much quicker than 3g.
but at other complaining that se dont do edge but dont buy another phone implying to me that its not that important.
as for other things with se i d like to see them get the basics right before anything else, when i get a new phone id like my battery to last more than a day id like to be able to see whos calling me and not get a surpirse when its someone else as the phone book has a bug id like my menus to move at a realistic speed and texting to do the same.
they do seem to be getting better at this and your average joe who buys phones is more interested in these things than anything else

i agree with that no point in having a feature packed phone if its constantly plugged into a wall not very mobile there.
but the new ones do claim good battery life so if they get anywhere near the claims they should be ok in that respect. they will be out somewhere in april so no doubt we will get a low down on them, and that gives you a mid range phone to look at

I think SE is too careful not to repeat Ericsson's mistakes of the times when they wanted to make "everything for everyone" and finally went into big losses. I would also like to see various SE products with every new technology in them, with a large variety of designs, with more smartphones but this would become too expensive for SE and incomes will drop again.
We have to face it: all these companies want their incomes most of all.

Yeah, thats the main thing. They want money! I do think they should improve some basics a tad, especially with release dates, they need to get these phones on shelves ASAP.
