i think ntl is capped they just chose not to inforce it at present a few of my friends use ntl and its claimed the cap is between 5gb and 30gb but ntl just dont bother inforcing it at present time.
however as more people go across to broadband im sure many will start.
i know bt are going to start inforcing the there caps sometime this year. i read they would be charging £2.35 per gb over the limit

well... so much for Bulldog... Monday evening and we still don't have a home phone connection and have not exceed 1megabit speed since they took over on Friday.

I have tried almost non stop all day to get through to their customer service but most of the time I just get a message saying they are sorry to be so busy and that I have to call back later (then the line goes dead).

When I can get through I spend 30-45 minutes on hold and so far each time I have been disconnected before I could actually talk to anyone. I finally got through onto the queue again at 19.55 Uk time and now 16 minutes later the line disconnected again and if I try and call back in the call centre is closed.

what a waste of space. who was it that recommended these cowboys? As I mentioned in a previous post, their own forums are full of similar stories but you can only access those forums when you have joined bulldog

anyway, I called BT half hour ago and they are going to take the home phone service back and I'll call Demon tomorrow and get them to supply the ADSL again. Demon were always good but the 8megabit service sounded too good not to go for it.

sigh...

other people wont make the same mistake

my last payment for pipex comes out this month and my contract is up in oct

Had this thru the door 2 weeks ago, offer ends July 11th,not bad for someone who was on dial up,and its cheaper

Btw,NTL told me on the phone that basically they do...

1MB download - 100Kbps upload
2MB download - 200Kbps upload
3MB download - 300Kbps upload

Im on 2MB and the first thing i do is test my speed at http://testmy.net/ each time i turn on my computer,i've never had 2MB on that test but its always just under which is fine for me.

PS,heres a link for ppl looking for 24Mbps,London only tho...Masseur?

I know a couple of our customers are on it but since we can't get the 8meg service up here, they're on the 2meg offering.

Installation went OK as far as I know, certainly none of the probs that masseur had with bulldog but as such, I can't comment on the customer service side of things.

Also, I can't comment on the LLU (>2meg) service since their 2meg service up here still uses BT ADSL, and I suspect that it's switching to LLU that can mess your phone service up.

It's worth mentioning that UKOnline have been around for years, unlike Bulldog.

I still think Pipex is the best IMHO - you get a dedicated IP address, an uncapped serive, hell it is only 512kbps, but im downloading @ 50-60kbps which is pretty damn impressive.

Netvigator - dont get me started - you know the people that provide braodband on the wireless modems, don't plug in to your phone line? If the computer isnt 100% well kept, the modem refuses to start/connect to the PC. The only logical way round this seems to do a complete wipe and reistall of everything. Shocking! Also, when you do get it going, it has an average of 12kbps download, for 512K?

Just my 2 cents!
