@Vlamm

Once more you speak words of reason.

Time after time we see these issues devolve in arguments where the same people seem unable to tolerate dissenting voices from their own. Furthermore some people seem to feel the need to make political comments at just about every opportunity.

I think the idea of a seperate forum is actually a really good idea if these threads must exist here in the first place.

okay. i didnt read through this whole thread. its all repeating its self all over from the other threads. i just wanted to throw in the fact that everyone isnt going to be happy, we all know that. it wouldnt bother me eather way we go, but honestly, if we keep these and put them in the GARBAGE area, it shouldnt be a problem. as laffen said "it says read at your own risk", so i think anything should be okay there.

I have no problems with anyone talking about their beliefs or religion, or whatever.

But this is a mobile phone forum and laffen/mods should rule this board how they want. If such topics and comments cause trouble, ban them or delete them. This is a 'decomacracy' to such a state- freedom of speech etc, which I agree with.

But here comments can erased, where in the 'real world' others can hear what you say.

Personally I think a decision needs to be made, such as making esato mobile content only, and deleting the garbage forums to deter such comments and spammers who post the majority of stuff there.

On my own board I wont stand for any shit that is not relevant

Not sure if my opinion would matter.

I love this forum, even though I'm a little less of a SonyEricsson fan of lately - needed a cheap smartphone with EDGE & 850Mhz band. But I still love this forum, and many of the people whom come here.

Some great threads have arrised here in the last few years.
Philipean (sorry if misspelled), Canadian, American etc, and people have gotten along incredibly. THe odd fanboy fanatic arrives and wants to rule the forums but its just an occassional cameo appearance anyway.

Politics & religion:

Politics has a bad effect on all people even within the same region or country. Here in Canada, most of us arent so passionate of politics until we're all screwed. In other country's its almost a matter of life or death. Policing forums of this type would be almost daunting as were all human even the moderators, and moderators whom live in the same country or have the same religion may or may not understand what is mentioned. They may side with one individual or common group or another. Deleted posts or banning may be seen as a moderator taking sides; and only lead to more misrepresentation & more issues.

Religion is a very sensitive topic. Some religions are completely woven into the vary fabric of ones soul, daily life, and more importantly to some religions; their culture. When an insult to one's religion, or even non acceptance of that religion is stated or demonstrated; it is seen as an insult. Not on a personal level but also on a cultural, national, even racial level -> that there is cause for fighting. This is almost impossible to see whom is right or wrong; remember the tower of babel - were basically devided by language & religion. All of us should be open to others religion, political beliefs and respect one another; hey more power can come to you from this basic act. Maybe even meet a life long brother/friend, or a mate. Unfortunately some people, dare I say cultures - Im willing to bet I'm wrong here and its my ignorance of not going to other country's to experience every culture first hand to know weather or not this is the case (but at least I acknowledge my fault here) - may not allow for this.

This display's why I feel religion & politics have no place in any worldwide community; especially when it comes to cellular or regional provider forums. I'm not saying its wrong, but given the current worldwide state of affairs its gonna be a huge mess that may cause more friction amongs us.

I do hope masseur and others here are able to make in the whole community's eyes what will eventually be the right decision; whichever that may be.

Godspeed. (no I dont have a faith just a good phrase)

I reckon anything should be able to be discussed here, at the end of the day the non-mobile phone stuff is usually based on current affairs eg Spoting events, Elections, bombings or wars.
People will always have different opinions on threads be they high brow, ignorant or somewhere in-between. These variations in opinions will be influenced by age and experience and seeing as Esato has member whose ages vary from early teens to say @masseur there's quite a spectrum for everyone to accept/tolerate. Politics is an excellent example, when I was a kid it did not touch my life and I did not give a flying fcuk (except during the miners strike) now I have to watch the Budget (for fcuks sake) worry re Corporation Tax ,do Tax returns, P11Ds etc etc ALL boring shit but influenced by the politicians currently in government.

In summary live and let live and remember there's a lot more important things in life to get all excited about other than someone’s differing opinion on an internet forum.

Well Vlammetje said all I would have thought too. To both Religion and politics. In the end it's the people who have a disagreeing viewpoint that *will* derail any point on the given subject, have the thread closed, moved, deleted or any other manner of things that just becomes irritating.

The problem is that those 2 subjects will always have a "Yours" and "Mine" opinion. (well ok and Scots britanica like volumous replies )

A seperate area could be a solution then those that don't want to see them don't have to, maybe even take it and garbage out of the "xx new posts" option so people don't have to see the topics at all? (If doable)

Unless all the threads and people within them stay civil then there'll be alot of locked threads.

Though I'd like to see some of those 2 topics discussed here, realistically unless they're completely moderated or put outside of the norm to all but personal attacks like the garbage threads, I can't see them lasting or meshing well.

@Gigs

I think that really sums things up rather well.

I am a member of a politcal forum and ironically there isn't actually much in the way of flmaing or petty squabbling there despite some of the topics being discused being rather emotive in nature. Admittedly there aren't many members, but debate really is very well mannered for the most part.

It would appear that this sort of reasoned and civil conduct is foreign to Esato where these issues are concerned. People argue that we should be allowed to discuss what we like, but I would only support that so far as it doesn't negatively impact upon people.

The idea of a seperate forum is still the best one around so far in my opinion. Keep the arguments and narrow mindedness contained at least.

What about a killfile? Basically, you could block posts either by poster or keyword. Never get irritated by Poster A again; merely block all their posts!

@absin

Some forums have a block feature, which is basically what you are suggesting. This might be a good idea for Esato too, as well as a dedicated political forum.
