As I understand it, you cannot transfer from O2 to CPW on the O2 network, and keep your number. For me, if I find O2 are branding their phones, I will end my contract with them, and probably take out a contract with CPW, but I will be forced to change network if I want to keep my number. So O2 will lose out both ways.
This used to be the case, it was quite bad for my GF who wanted to stay with O2, but she had had her contract in her mother's name for donkeys years. O2 refused to do an owner transfer. The only way for my GF to get to stay with O2 and keep her number was to go with O2-online to transfer from O2-high-street. I'm with O2-high-street and thought I had to switch operators too, but according to CPW, they've got their own setup.
...meaning, O2-CPW will get my business...
...However with all this sh*******t I won't get my PAC code until O2 actually have released the freakin' phone...

I hope that's the case. However, I tried to do this only three weeks ago, and I was told by CPW that I could transfer my number to any network but not O2. I will try again.

GOT IT!!!
Righto - seems like I wasn't fed manure on Saturday. I now got the phone off Carphonewarehouse; £100, plus paying off my retention from O2 (high-street). The contract is an O2-carphonewarehouse contract...
Phone is charging... (I need to work)...

Be careful with this phone. I am a Vodafone customer and have had it for a coupleof months. I am on my 3rd phone as I have had continuous errors and problems. My current one is as bad as the rest and is going back to sony Ericsson. 3 of my friends have the P990 and are all having the same issues.
Phone locks up when opening or closing the flip in the middle of a task (taking a photo, messaging etc). Calls drop out. Lots of different memory errors. Lots of random lock ups (2 or 3 times a week). When doing texts using the Aa mixed case setting it does not put a capital letter after a full stop unless you delete the lowercase character first then type again and it appears as upper case. These are a few of the things. I was also excited about the phone. The camera and hardware is great. The software is awful.
If you get problems with the phone don't put up with it, keep sending it back.
