I do not own the great phone. But as my understanding, the phone menus at the current age are mostly for dealing with phone memory. Few actions can be done with SIM memory. The action u want might be available on some old Ericsson models only. (maybe SH888). For example, on R380s with old software version, you can even not to delete the SIM stored SMS, but the later R380s software included the function anyway.

drfell, i am from oklahoma city, ok, usa. i will check my settings as soon as i get it back form SE. i called to see about a firmware update, according the the sn, it's still under warranty. they are going to upgrade it for me. i should have it back in a few days.

OK I have spoke to the place I got my new phone from. The problem with the time and date is because it has not been charged from factory. This phone is a prototype that has never been used and that is why it is in such good condition. It needs to be charged up a few times to get it working properly. drfell I asked about another prototype and he has one prototype left with a silver cover and one copper one left which is not a prototype, the copper one has a small mrk on the front of the cover but he says it is only a very small mark. He is willing to swap the covers over and make a copper prototype the same as mine if you are interested and the price is £79 plus postage to your country. I do not know how much this is so will have to find out.
