I heard that before that all SE's 2011 Android phones will be updated to ICS... and the rumours that ICS will only work on dual-cores or 1GB of ram are just silly !!

Sony Ericsson now says no official decision made re: Android ICS
This morning we reported on news on Sony Ericsson supposedly confirming that Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) would hit the 2011 range of Xperia handsets. The company has since backtracked with an official statement on the matter to SoMobile:
“When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.”
So the jury is out right now, but let’s hope Sony Ericsson comes good (as long as the hardware is capable of it).

Just when you thought they have their act together. The false announcement garnered them a lot of positive reactions and they could've just let it and worked hard to supply the update to all those phones. Talk about poor management who can't see a silver lining in anything. In business you spin almost anything into a positive for your company but it seems SE is incompetent in that field.
Imagine the people that ahd decided to buy an SE phone because of that initial announcement, they will say screw SE cause I'm changing my mind.

They said no official statement has been made, not no IceCream for 2011 Xperias, there is a difference. I have full belief that all the higher end Xperias this year will get Ice Cream but SE didn't want to say yes for definite because all that will happen is everyone who has an arc, neo or play right now will be screaming "Where's my effin' update?!" till middle of next year.
Also saying all Xperias will get the update is probably a little too broad as some of them might not be able to take the update and still perform well and with Google taking control of further updates from Ice Cream onwards it may be out of SE's hands.
They're just trying not to make promises that are going to cause issues later, all last year almost every forum on the net was slagging off SE for breaking promises surrounding the X10, I can completely understand them not wanting the same situation to arise again.

If that is the case I can understand but if not then I find their response stupid to say the least.
@Ricky D
There is nowhere in my post I am saying SE have said that they will not update their phones but am saying that this was a good P.R exercise and one that could get them more sales. They should either have kept quiet or confirmed that it is so instead of creating doubt in potential customers and current owners. They did themselves a disservice by creating confusion.
Unless what se_dude suggests then they blew a good chance of polishing up on their reputation.
I can see them making this official in the coming months when some of those who were going to buy their phones have moved on to other brands.

The official statement is that there has been no desicions made. You could either wait and see or be negative about it like you. I prefer the first!
Do you think the official who let the cat out of the bag knows nothing? This has been discussed within SE already and he inadvertently let it slip when he shouldn't have. The issue I have is how SE is dealing with it.
You are being naive in thinking that this is from nowhere, it is from within SE.

Mystery Sony Ericsson SK10i crops up in benchmark running Android 2.3.5
Another new Sony Ericsson handset has appeared in a benchmark (it’s two a penny these days). The Sony Ericsson SK10i made an appearance in the AnTuTu Benchmark and showed that it was running Android 2.3.5 and has a weak 729.6MHz processor.
This handset may just be a prototype or could even be canned, but if it ever does come to light it will probably appear as a budget version of the Xperia mini pro (SK17i) given its model name (SK10i). Click through for a screengrab of the benchmark.

@Dups!
My comment wasn't aimed at you. I was merely pre-empting the nay-sayers and forwarding my analysis. I can see your point about the publicity being on the whole negative, I'm sure they wanted to keep their mouths shut on the issue but someone slipped. I'm also certain that person who slipped has had a serious telling off in the last few days.
As for what se_dude has pointed out, this is also a possibility that Google have had a quick word with someone at SE to keep schtum.
Either way, what's said is said we just have to wait and see if the story unfolds further.
