I dont get one thing. If Sony Ericsson wasnt going to release a dual-core phone this year, why did they trademark xperia duo??For a phone that they're gonna launch in 2012??When all 300eur+ phones are going to have dual/quad-core cpu, naming a phone duo, just doesnt make any sense.I,also, dont understand the new trandition that goes in SE.Ever since 2004(except 2010), Q4 always got a high-end phone.Unless of course, they think that launching a xperia arc, with a slightly overclocked cpu is enough for Q4.If they have any phone to launch in 2011,we'll know soon.

To be fair, we don't really know what the 'duo' means. We speculated that it was for the dual-core phone, could even be a dual-sim phone for all we know.
Yes, the arc S is intended for the 'high-end' Q4 phone for this year. I don't recall them releasing any high-end phone in 2010 in the fourth quarter.
I, personally, think they missed the bus this year. They should've released a dual-core phone now instead of the arc S. If, however, they will release something cutting edge in the second half of next year, and I'm not talking about (the) Nozomi, then they will be back in business.

I totally agree with you. There is no reason having the arc and the arc S at the same time in markets, they kind of kill each other sales potential. If the wanted to offer some more premium specs they should have done the following.
1.replace 1GHZ msm8255,with 1.5GHZ msm8260(dual-core).
2.replace 1500mah battery,with 1800mah battery.
3.replace 512MB ram,with 1GB ram.
4.add 16GB built-in storage, and keep the xperia acro(Japanese phone) design+bulit,so that they have more space for larger battery, memory and cpu.
5.Launch it as the xperia arc S,for 499eur,and drop the retail price of the original arc,at around 329eur-349eur.
That way not only do they effectively compete with the other manufacturers, but also keep both models in the market.

I found some more information on Nozomi from howard forums under the keitai section. Apparently the person who posted this said they found it in a Vietnamese website. I'm currently trying to track down the source page:
Docomo SO-02D Nozomi (Smartphone)
OS: Android 2.3
Display: 4.3 "1280 × 720 pixels (HD)
Memory: 1 GB
Camera
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, module GSM / WCDMA
Release date (tentative): November 2011
Connector for Micro SIM
I know there's not much info and the info doesn't differ from current rumor/speculation, but hey, better than nothing right?
By the way, this info here is for Docomo's winter line up this year, supposedly.

If they manage to get this out by November then they would've done themselves a world of good. It would also mean there's something mind-blowing to be announced at MWC.
But that is a big if. Let's see since there is that word I don't like in there, and that is 'tentative'. Sounds like some people want this out this year while others next year.
Is it the 10 year anniversary surprise, to release this phone this year?
Let's wait and see.

Nah, they've even stated their strategy for the end of this year will be to focus on the ray and arc s. So you'll start to see ads featuring these phones as the run up to Christmas. I don;t think they'd bring out a dual core phone now because it would completely kill of the arc s, as they'll try to sell this as a powerful device...

What do you think about recently HD screen resolution has been announced earlier this month, next trend after megapixels and cpu clock race? it have few months before MWC but I feel it going to be big on this year.
I'm not much impressed about htc collaboration with beats, it just software tuning things with anyway quality headphone could delivered it job. My expectation is higher for some hardware
Well, for

at least they still have something nice in the bags, I only hope that it won't late in market.
Any info about htc sensation utilize st-ericsson hardware from your side?
I really curious about performance this one
but not expect to challenge with S2 the monster.

I think the performance should be pretty similar. Both use 45nm, both are arm cortex a9, both have MALI Gpu
Imo on paper its a much better choice than Qualcomms s2 of whatever is inside "our" sensation
AFAIK, U9500 utilize only single core of Mali 400 while S2 from Samsung is MP4 version which mean quad core of gpu
I really eager to see this model performance if this floating information are correct
