Hi!

I got an easy question ! W950i and TomTom.

What do you need to do to stop the W950 going to a screen saver kind of screen?

I suppose if the TomTom is active, then this will not kick in ?

I also know I can switch 'power save' off, currently it is set for 1 minute!

Yes, I know there are threads about TomTom, and I am wading through them all...

But I would appreciate a quick reply from a W950i and TomTom user !

Hey I'd like to know how you got TomTom installed onto the W950i. I thought it needed to be installed on a memory card.

The backlight controls whether the screen stays bright or not and that is in the control panel.

Tools>control panel>device>backlight. Make sure backlight is just 'on' or 'on' for car holder if you have a car holder.

Screen saver is below backlight in the list.

hi i have a w950 and tomtom installed
it works fine for me,haven't had a problem yet apart from you need to end all other running programmes first or it might not start.

once tomtom is running screen saver or powersaving wont kick in so my advice to you if your using it it your car is to use a car charger.

the tomtom software will only work on your phone if you purchase the dvd version,it is the only tomtom product that has the uiq3 version on it.

don't bother getting it from tomtom theirselves i waited for 3 weeks and it still hadn't arrived so cancelled my order and got it from an online seller, and it arrived the following day. i also use the tomtom bluetooth gps reciever mk2 which works well and has a great battery life.

hope this helps

Did you have any problems with the installation though? The P990 tomtom discussion thread suggested that it could be a problem as the tomtom installer insist on installing to a memory card.

Can you confirm whether it was a simple process or not?

thanks gar1 and Buttoneer!

I know to get the DVD software and can see it at Expansys. I guess I can hunt around and find it cheaper !

I have a Holux GPSSlim236 and use that with a Tunsten T3 and TomTom Naivigator 5!

I was thinking about use the W950i on foot !

I am also interested on buttoneer's question!

i had no problems whatsoever, just download tomtom home from their website and it will install from there, directley onto the phones memory.when you disconnect your 950 from your pc an installer programme will prompt you to finish the instalation. piece of cake m8.

Yep thats the one. Also ensure the phone is in File Transfer mode. This way TomTom Home will see the D: drive of the phone.
