SONY 2012 portfolio. The SONY devices come out next year. It was mentioned in one of articles about the press conference earlier today by Sony regarding the takeover. Nozomi, Aoba and the likes are most likely cancelled as they mentioned devices made by SONY and not under development phones.
We might see SONY phones announced at CES 2012.

Well, according to Swedish news papers, the company will keep the name Sony Ericsson for a while longer. They state they will change the name, but currently do not know when this will be done.

Cancelling anything that is already more or less developed would just be a strange move. I'm betting it will be business as usual for some time and then gradually changing into the new Sony organization.

In the press conference today Sony made it clear that a task force has already been set up to come up with a new name and "Sony Ericsson" name will continue only for a "short term". So by January will no longer be used.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sony have already been developing their own mobiles but my guess is that during the transition period, which is from today, current mobiles under development could be rebranded under the new name - whatever that may be.

Vaio Mobile maybe?

Not Vaio Mobile. It will be a completely new name. And I believe so will be the products i.e. No under development phone will be sold as there are indications SONY phones are already under development .

Also I think now on the rumor threads here will never have much activity as Sony products won't leak out and the reason we have had so many leaks was that R&D was in Sweden and most members here are European. But Sony R&D will be in Japan and also Sony is quite strict with regards to "leaks".

Last hope is....they don't go and remove the logo by Takuya Kawagoi

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=110799

that's I can say the nicest looking logo for a phone company.

If you ask me. Motorola/ Nokia/ Samsung/ LG/ RIM/ ZTE/ HTC all have lousy logo (oh well...some of them have none but with boring font)

HuaWei is so so....

only Apple and have a logo that you can recognize them without having the company name printed.

ok enough on this.

@randomuser

So you're saying that mobile R&D in Lund will cease to exist?

Yes all R&D will move to Japan together with Sony's Vaio and Sony Computer Entertainment R&D center. The mobile division will work closely with the Vaio and playstation division. That is what Sony said, and Howard Stringer also mentioned that they will stop using the name "Sony Ericsson" very soon.

And its quite obvious that the logo will also go.
