Just an update....
After the 3rd attempt... The process for upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 described an available via download to the iphone without the need of mac/pc from
http://ijailbreak.com/
has been successful for me... one issue seen so far... that the previews of the songs on the iTunes store are unable to play at the moment....
Apparently there is method to upgrade an unlocked 1.1.2 to an unlocked 1.1.3 using the same method...
UPDATE : TOO MANY BUGS...
The alarm sound did not work... GPRS stopped working... some itunes purchased songs did not work... back to 1.1.1 again... for a while I suggest..

Cut my SIM to the relevant size
Carefully sandwiched them together in my phone.
Thats about it really.

If so thats good to know it works in the uk as im currently waiting on mine
is it a 5th gen?

finally got my brothers UK iPhone unlocked, what do i do next?
looking for some essential apps and must haves...have to say, YouTube on the iPhone is like no other handset experience, it's the proper video quality....unbeatable...still gonna wait for a 3G version though, this one's just iCandy for the moment.
what firmware is everyone running? any limitations/preferences?

Apparently at 1.30PM (GMT) today, O2 are announcing a 16GB iPhone, nothing different to the iPhones out there now, except the increase in disk space. DOn't know how true it is, read this info over at engadget.
