Yes definitely. The first smartphone should be much more similar to the Tablet S/P and the Walkman Z than 2011 Xperia models.

Hey guys i just ordered a xperia neo v before the announcement came, first and foremost is the 2011 Xperia line up to be still supported for ICS? I know Howard Stringer mentioned it when Sony Ericsson announced it but will Sony have different plans? I hope they continue to support!!! Please Sony dont lose a loyal customer!

Sony considers quitting the S-LCD joint venture with Samsung
What could that mean? Maybe Sony will use OLED displays in their phones instead of S-LCD ones?

The Flagship smartphone will most likely have an OLED screen as in the Walkman X series, Walkman A series and the PS Vita. Sony also uses OLED in cybershot models. So it will be quite natural for them to fit an OLED screen in their flagship phone. The mid range devices may also have an OLED screen but not VERY likely.

Also S-LCD (Samsung-Sony LCD manufacturing JV) and SLCD (Super LCD screens) are not one and the same. The Sony SLCD screens used in phones has nothing to do with Samsung or their JV with Samsung but Sony Mobile Displays which is now Japan Display (merger of INCJ, Sony, Toshiba and Sharp mobile display divisions) So yes we will still see Japan Display screens in their phones.

I am waiting for my Razr so I will most likely be using a Sony phone in 2013 provided that it is worth it.

This is Sony's chance to show that it can use its technological prowess to the fullest.

Hi people

Ik think also their TV brand wil have Oled, becouse now they have LED and the reason why Sony dump S-LCD technologie, they just want more work with Japanese company's instead of copycats Koean company as you can see (Samsung) or (LG)
