I would forget the txt message and call them anyway
as we know that it is available
also you could complain about not getting the txt message and may get a better deal allthough the deal you have got seems reasonable.

They're not willing to offer me any less than £130 for the phone and £15 line rental. Im not happy with that considering my spend is £50 a month at the moment.

RE: Average spend I was in 'Band F' whatever that is which he said was in one of the best bands - my average is about £55pm and I've been with o2 for about 6 years.

thanks for your advice robfelix05
Avg spending is 40pm.
But how many of you did manage to upgrade today?
I am fed-up to call o2 CS to be told to wait for the text!
Can I upgrade without text?
Do you think I could get a better deal?

Thinking about it I probably got a better deal than most due to how I went about it...not intentionally....
I originally got annoyed with the P990 delays so I asked for my PAC code and was going to leave. Eventually they talked me round with a W850i for Free with 500 mins and 500 texts for £20pm.
I sent the W850i back because it was rubbish and as a result I've been able to keep that special tariff which probably isn't available for the P990i.
Maybe I'll bear that in mind for the future!

I have now upgraded and should have the phone by Tuesday tough they are quoting 3-5 working days. The one who processed said 1-3 working days the one who called to confirm said 3-5 working days. The consistency is quality!!!
I have also been told that the retention tariff deal that I was offered is not valid. So here starts the complaints procedure!!!

Got mine on a 12 month contract. They couldn't offer 18 month contracts today, but I prefer the 12 month. I don't think I got that good a deal, although it is less than I was paying previously, and I only paid £49.99 for the phone, and £4.99 a month insurance. No one has mentioned a data package. Surely this is necessary to make good use of the phone. I am told I can sort that out on Monday (They say their systems are down), but I expect it to be about £17 for 36Mb.
BTW. The conversation seemed somewhat rushed.:
"I'm phoning in response to your text confirming the P990 is now available"
(Then a few security questions)
"One moment.............(music)...............Yes Sir, I've placed your order and your phone will be with you in 3 working days..............anything else?"
I thought it would take a little longer.

If the o2 p990i still has issues, on o2 upgrades how long do we have with the phone before we can send it back. Is it 2 weeks?
