I do. Sometimes it useful when target object is against the very bright background (e.g. face and white wall just behind it)
I found that in 2.34 in Auto mode (metering mode Normal or Spot, focus Auto or Macro) focusing works only at distances more than 100 mm. I checked up original 2.2 & 2.3. Their Auto can take sharp images at distances 50-60 mm in both metering modes of Macro.
"Closest" sharp pictures:
2.3, mode Auto, focus Macro, metering Spot, no effects, white balance Auto
2.34, mode Auto, focus Macro, metering Spot, no effects, white balance Auto
"Full range scanning of AF system, include Macro. Macro enabled in all scenes" is good but where is original Macro?
P.S. Centers of images r a little bluish. Does anybody know what's the matter?

-AK-, hm..... maybe your lens is dirty? I don't know why is. As i think, in 2.34 (beta or alfa) is normal macro. Maybe its focus error?

buggy EM mode removed,
AE level property 18 gives more colour,

I reinstalled and tested 2.2, 2.3, 2.34 twice with the same results. 2.2 & 2.3 can catch focus at 50 mm but 2.34 can't. U mentioned u rebuilt some standart modes and changed AF range. Did u change smth in AF of Auto mode?
If some1 (including u) can get sharp photos at 50-60 mm with 2.34 I'll change my opinion. I chose ur driver because for me it's 1 of the best by image quality met till now. If it was not such "feature" it would be most universal&convenient (IMHO).
As for the bluish region. I obtained it in fluorescent light. It appears with all camdrivers so i think it's hardware (sensor) trouble (or feature). It can be damaged by sunlight (since K550 has no mechanical shutter) and this is only my trouble. Or sensor color channel sensitivity depends on angle of incidence (since blue is in the center) and this is "feature" and mb our common problem. So if some1 encoutered this situation let me know, please.
