I would certainly not be very pleased if i pay more money to buy a system which runs on another os, go through the learning curve of familiarising, and still face issues of incompatiblility..with my "usual" stuff. I'd rather use linux or BeOS for a "change".. I use knoppix when i get bored with xp! And knoppix is interesting as it runs from a dvd! Change on a pc is so much easier!

why should the samll users buy mac, if there is anything going wrrong with a mac, it would take ages to fix, whereas fixing a PC is EASY,

regarding upgrading, the ppl over here just go to a shop, buy the stuff and do it by themselves, or by friends or relatives, if they dont know how to do it. plus the new PCs are sold with a 1 year on the site contract, where the tech guy comes in and fixes the comp for free....

i love my mac...

best move i made, everything is soo simple to do.. too simple at certain times..

like installing a program! drag and drop to the apps folder. vs next next next next next, reboot on a pc.

i know which i prefer..

you can get games for macs... the sims on macs is awesome,

im not going back to pc ever.

I would love to buy a mac to play around with, but cant justify spending 800+ for a mac that i might not like/use. Im thinking about looking for the G4 ibooks, are they still anygood?

@solid,
my iBook and Mac Mini played Age of Mythology flawlessly and faster than my pc did (and my pc had 1.5gb ram and a 3.2Ghz P4)

Games play very nicely. I'm going to be installing CS: Source soon and I'll let you know how it works on my friends laptop.

when it comes to networking though, it is indeed faster than a windows pc. Especially for beginners since it does alot of the jobs automatically.
Whereas Windows asks for specific settings.

e.g. when accessing my wireless network, the mac detected it was an Open WEP access, asked for a key and thats it.

A pc will ask whether it's opened or shared, ask for a key, ask whether it is IEEE and so on.

edit:
for those considering the new Macbooks, remember you can have BOTH os's on it.
And as for upgrading it, it couldn't be simpler.
Remove the battery, remove the guard, two pop out slots for ram, and the hard disk pulls out with a little grip. All plug and go.

As for buying an iBook. That would be a wise choice if you wanted to switch dedicatedly to OSX.

It is indeed faster and it takes a few hours MAX to learn how to use.
Only thing I got annoyed with is that there is no PRT SCR button or Delete

But there are short cut commands.

Better yet, go to an Apple Store and play around

im a mac kinda guy
switched about 2-3 years ago now, never go back.
was weird coming to OSX as it is less cluttered and just feels like you dont have to do much to get the machine to do what you want to do which is nice

mainly use it for print, illustrator, indesign, photoshop, but also dreamweaver, final cut HD, word, excel work fine on it and itunes rocks.
does the job fantastically for me
