btw: previous K750 didnt stem the growth of s60.

K750 was only the start but it doesn't have the same JAVA VM as K800, it's the multi-tasking JAVA VM in K800 is the factor I'm thinking might be an equaliser between non-smartphones and low end smartphones.

nokias ui is much, much more refined than that of any se.you only need to toy with one for 2 mins to realise this.thats one of the reasons nokia holds the largest market share! This message was posted from a WAP device

guys... if anything SE's a100 UI will keep on evolving into a s60 style UI...

i can say i'm a lot happier with my k800i then i was with any s60 phone to date... the n73 is decent and if the k800i wasn't available i'd use it... but have played with both for about 1 month now... my love for the k800 grows and the n73 just not stepping up...

if the n73 did have wifi though.... i would make the adjustments and use s60 vs the k800i simply cause nokia's wifi implementation has been amazing and it's a featrure would use often

That's sad when someone needs to hijack your username to speak up for Nokia. I think you have to be blind to say that S60 is easier to use then SE UI, oh and as far as the N73 goes it's nice to see Nokia copying Sony Ericsson with the Camera button on the side and the volume key's used as the zoom keys, that's one thing by the way that makes me never want to buy any Nokia S60 device, the lack of any volume key at all on the side absolutely useless design.

Oh and to Prom1, you say you hate the design of the K800I but want to buy a K800I walkman? Aren't you contradicting yourself there a bit, I mean any walkman K800I will be based on the current K800I's design but maybe in white with orange lights. Do you not like the K800I's lights or something?

So do you know for a fact that 10 times more peope are using S60 Nokia's? In effect you've just compared the user base for the entire Nokia S60 range against one Sony Ericsson model in that statement. Oh and people didn't have much of a choice in SE 3G phones before, now they do and I have no trouble predicting that SE will be eating into Nokia's share soon enough.

Your absolutley right. The S60 models do have more features because they are SMART PHONES, there supposed to have more features hence why they are more technical and more difficult to use then any SE non smart phone UI.

I have no doubt that the 6233 will out sell the K800I but the real competitor the K610I completely blows the 6233 out of the water for features and again is MUCH easier to use and I can see far more people buying it over the 6233 anyday.

No, the K800I is not the best SE can do, that'll be the P990I, M600I and W950I smart phones which are the competitors of any S60 smart phone.
Remember at the end of the day were comparing user interfaces, and as you keep going on and on about the Nokia Smart Phone User Interface Series 60 then it MUST be compared to SE's Smart Phone interface as on the M600I and P990I and W950I and not ANY other SE phone including the K800I.

@Apolloa I think is safe to assume you are a SE fan ! Nothing wrong with that buddy. I hope for your part, SE will soon fix the P990i :D Believe it or not, I want one too - minus the bugs that is. On the other hand, I think the S40 is Nokia's 'money making horse/cow'. Is not the best, is not the most beautifull but certainly is the one which pushes nokia 'on top'. To argue against it is pretty futile. While we 'vote' in here with our mouths, the millions of buyers worldwide have already voted with their wallets. Greetings from South Africa. No, I'm by no means an SE fan, I have had 1 Samsung, 4 Nokias and 2 SE phones that I can remember. I just don't now why people compare a smart phone to a non smart phone UI. I now that brand loyalty get's you now where.
I have yet to decide if I get a P990I, Orange in the UK are doing some very good 18 month deals at the mo but they only offer the K800I which I like.
hmmm decisions decisions.

i hope the p990i and m600 aren't the best devices... because they aren't that great.. i'd prefer my k800i over both of those..

My opinion of each other weakneses
s40(lastest)
-slow (especially when accessing mem card)
-unable to direct saving files recived (by btooth/irda) to mem card
-too/wannabe s60
-semi hotswap (themes always reset if u draw ur mem card/u put ur themes on mem card)


ui
-unable to open >50kb txt files
-backlit too short & u cannot customize it
-cannot create another SMS folder
