I can clearly understand that you are not a rookie and you know alot about your phones and stuff .
most people here have some sort of problems with P990's and they are willing to have them solved here and most of them are newbies. That's why they are here. Those guys won't be around this forum for long either.
While you are playing with your phones , learning stuff maybe these people are out there playing with girls, cars, making money or least they are not into electronics as much as you, so they don't have enough knowledge for the P series phones.
All they need answers for their problems, I don't think these guys incuding me asking stupid questions just to be made fun of. A big problem for them may not even be considered as a problem for you.
Anyway I see from your style that you like to attack people and try to embarras them because you have >500 posts and they asked astupid question. One thing you are right though, they should read and search before asking stupid questions but you don't have to be the one to punish them for this.
Just don't reply if you don't like somebody's question , rather them punishing them .
Maybe my P990 knowledge is not as much as yours but if you want we can talk about women, sex, cars, money, culture, healty living, sports, football etc where I have quite a good knowledge

I know what you mean, although I have no experience with the Treo. In my case, the short of it is that I'm sorely disappointed with the P990 and after having it a week will be sending it back. Here are my reasons, not all of which are down to the phone:
- Phone was too expensive in the first place and was pushed into an 18 month contract.
- Unacceptably buggy software (this is the main problem)
- Vodafone have crippled the phone with their firmware and will not commit to updates.
- The Symbian Smartphone Show is in 2 weeks time. Who knows what will be announced (or leaked).
- There are rumours of WEGA branded SE phones in early 2007.
- The Nokia N95 is slated for a Q1 2007 and in my opinion is better than the P990 (although it has no keyboard or touch screen).
- New Blackberrys offer another alternative (Pearl and 8800) as well as the HTC.
I think the P990 is a good piece of hardware, but has come too late to market to stay as a technology leader for more than a few months and is badly let down by its software.

Dont see why you would have to tell them anyways, its not like your sim is locked only to the p990i. But dont you have like 7 or 14 days in which to cancel the contract/phone if you so wish??.
Nitro and Double cheese please STFU the both of you, acting like little pre-school kids...this aint a playground.

Hi Mate,
You would be well advised to be careful about taking advice from unqualified sources especialy on legal matters, it is very easy to be blase when it does not affect you.
I think you need to read the terms and conditions you signed very carefuly you may find that the handset it's self remains the property of the provider, its worth checking your individual contract in detail better safe than sorry.

STFU? if this is an abbreviation for what I think it is, then you need to know I take the view that anyone who cannot express an opinion without resorting to foul language, is clearly lacking in basic intelligence and I therefore treat their outpourings with total and utter contempt.
However if it is not an abbreviation could you please explain it to me so I know what your referring to I feel sure doublecheese will doubtless be equally interested.

Hmm interesting, I never even thought about that before... I sold a Samsung t200 and an SE K750i whilst I was still in the contract period and used the sim cards in a different phones, I never heard from either operator about it. I was still paying for the contract and using the minutes but in a different phone, guess they weren't too worried...

The mobile phone itself does not form part of your contract with any mobile provider AFAIK. You own the handset outright from day one and the provider has no claim over it whatsoever (which it why networks locking handsets is actually a dubious practice). The only physical item the network own is the SIM card itself.
So to answer the original question regarding selling the handset, you are perfectly within your rights ro do so, but remember you cannot "sell on" the contract itself, so this will either need to be paid off early or continued to the end of the contractual period.
As Spawn pointed out above if you are within thr first 14 days of a new contract the best option is to return the handset and cancel the contract.

you slaughter a guy with less than 100 posts for not knowing some basic principals, why? chances he might not want to come back. These are just phones not a way of life, he might be a business user with better things to do with their time than muck around trying to understand the basics of the P990i (I do agree reading the manual of any item is advisable before complaining mabout it!) no need to be nasty to people to make your self feel bigger and better.
He didn't ask for advice on how to set up an alarm without using the calendar function (loool), or anything else of the sort. he simply assumed that you couldn't do it. He may not have time to read the manual to his new £500 phone, in which case he could've asked a simple question here.
Why should it bother Ares or anybody else if ppl who don't spare enough time/thought/effort to construct a proper post never come back here? It's not as if they're contributing any value to the forum.
Ares is also 100% right that it is people without enough time/patience to learn to use the phone properly that are creating literally hundreds of threads/posts here slagging it off all the time. What value is that to this forum? If anybody who basically doens't understand how to use the P990i wants help/advice on how to do so then fine, but tell me, where did this guy ask for that?
