All SE phones have had major improvements. I have had:
T610 - Brilliant phone for the time
K700 - Much better screen, MP3 capability, better UI, better camera, much more memory
K750 - Much better camera, memory card which finally allowed you to use the MP3 player properly.
K800 - Much better screen, better UI, much better camera for low light conditions
To be honest I consider each phone (released one year after the previous) to be a significant upgrade. If I had to chose one I would say the K750 gave me the most satisfaction, simply because of the inclusion of MS Duo support, but techincally I would have to say the K700 was the best upgrade. Shame about the awful battery life
I suspect that the improvements in future years will be less dramatic. After all, what more significant advances can be made to next couple of years phones apart from increasing connectivity (WiFi support and the like) and putting in better cameras?

well i think the camera of the k800i sucks...
i cant get a good shot during night time... even if i use twilight landscape... even if i use the flash it gets too white when transfered to pc

My k800`s earpiece volume is very slow compared with my k750/w800/w810.I made a test using the same melody and same HPM-70;k800`s sound SUCKs.SE should let intact that great sound(output level) from k750/w800/w810

ive owned iz the k800i, 2 me this is the best handset ive owned by far cant fault it !!!!! touch wood.
