first thanks for inputs into this topic:

What I start to realize is that N95 just combines the best(if not better) components of the two "new" series of SE:

K series for image recording
W series for media playing

- Carl Zeiss lens, DVD-quality video recording at 30fps, TV-out, Flickr-based services

- 3.5mm jack, manage their music library via USB Mass Storage (no more Disc2Phone, yea), dedicated music buttons, FM radio

And the P series, as a flag ship, have only a "balance" features of K and W series. I like my flag ship to have the as many BEST features as possible without compromising too much in battery/size.

I mean P990 was so late (after K800, W800), they could have included 3.2 mp and 3.5mm jack easily.

@devilhell
I think your write but i still love the p990i even though it has a 2mp. As a simple user for photography, 2mp is ok for me but i miss the jack for headset(2.5mm from p910i) but its great if they used it with 3.5mm. Yes you can used a fastport but it will add to the lenght of the phone. If SE can make the p990i remove the major bugs the phone is perfect for me.

I hope we'll see a P990 successor soon, maybe at the Symbian smartphone show in October.

Saying SE can't compete with the N95 is a little bit silly. They obviously could, but the question is - will they do it now, or later?

The P990 isn't doing them any favours, but they don't need to do a lot to improve the specs;

Faster processor
HSDPA
802.11g
Better camera
More memory

I hope that in the year since the P990 development started, they've been working on most or all of these things.

I will say one thing though. I used the N95 on Tuesday and it's an amazing bit of kit, with a better battery than the N80 (thank god). Regardless of what SE produce, it's going to be popular because it deserves to be. Nokia just has to get it ready to ship in Q1 now. That's not far off what SE said with the P990 this time last year!

Maybe Se will released a new p990i with special edition with some of the features added:
More RAM
Faster processor or dual processor to support the full power of the phone(2nd processor for the graphics)
HSDPA
802.11b/g
3.5mm jack
With OS 9.3
If this will be announced this october, all the p990i users will be mad

The P990 is not a bad phone, but if you compare it to even some the of Nokia's that are out on the market, it's beginning to slip. I really do think they waited too long. Like I've said the recent E-series and N-series phones are really catching up to the P-series. If my E70 had a better camera, A2DP support, and a larger screen, it would be a far superior product to the P-series. The E70 is faster, has more software available (I know it's not SE's fault), and the music quality is just as good (and louder) than the P990i. The N95 is a superior technology and seeing how Nokia has been releasing phones on time, I would not doubt that they would be able to release this phone in Q1. Series 60 is a fairly stable software as it is.......so they have 4-6 months to tweak it.

don't get your hopes up on the camera, 5mp at that size of phone/lens is probably gonna be a bad camera(i.e. not like a decent digital camera), gps looks nice though if it doesn't drain a lot of battery.

(and I'm not comparing an unavailable phone, the N95, with a phone that is - barely - available, the P990)

Errr, that's exactly what you're doing. Re-read your post (the first part) it even states it there. The fact that you state you 'choose' not to buy the P990i (the reason is irrelevant) means you've proved this yourself. Why not buy the N95? Oh, because it's not available!!

Besides the touchscreen and the keypad, what can be said about P990i that is better than the N95?

Well, personally I like my phone to actually be available. Helps when I try to make phone calls for one.

not tht i don't like SE...i am crazy on the brand

but come on...lets be fair a bit

when P990 was out last year...everyone also start hu ha hu ha blah blah blah this and tht

However when Nokia come out something which is more powerful.....ppl will start putting statement of..

Come on!!! It is not even out yet!!!

It is the same thing what anti SE ppl told us last yr when P990 is out when we start talking rubbish.

So get a life and the reality to accept tht Nokia is getting something out which is better.

SE is no doubt this yr focusing on styling and general consumer so they can get more record breaking profit....however I just hope they can quickly move back to also being at the cutting edge instead of just focusing on profit.

I really hope they get a M600 format phone tht come with wifi/ camera/ hspda/ gps/ and DVB-H all in one package.
