it worked with my gf's contract upgrade N80. Bought a PAYG sim and registered it with the N80 IMEI and requested the unlocking code.
received it about 2 weeks later. She's now using her much better flext contract sim in it
also, many more reports of this working on various forums

i've had a call from Orange today and they just wanted to tell me that the RSS Reader has been removed from the P990i intentionally from Orange!!!
When i asked why the feature was removed and that their statement contradicts not only their customised manual as well as the advertised features of the phone, she declined to comment saying that she can't know why that decision was taken by whoever it was taken.
there ya go!

Thats a load of nonsense. Whoever told you that from Orange is covering up the fact they screwed up. At least the tech person who responded to me from Orange was honest enough that it was a goof and that it would be corrected.
However, maybe that Orange Homescreen is such bloatware, there wasn't enough room in the ROM!
