Well yeah! If he expected his follows to rather die than giving up so easy, why shouldn't he followed his own words too.

I'm still in favor that Saddam should be hanged in a Chrsitmas Tree (very timely for next month) . . . though the TREE will be shaped and MADE-up of Atomic Bomb particles/nutrients etc. . . . will be detonated by remote by GWB from the US, using a
P990i-Hussein-Edition !

According Iraq's report to the UN, the know-how and material for developing chemical weapons were obtained from firms in such countries as: the United States, West Germany, the United Kingdom, France and China.[1] By far, the largest suppliers of precursors for chemical weapons production were in Singapore (4,515 tons), the Netherlands (4,261 tons), Egypt (2,400 tons), India (2,343 tons), and Federal Republic of Germany (1,027 tons).
One Indian company, Exomet Plastics (now part of EPC Industrie) sent 2,292 tons of precursor chemicals to Iraq. The Kim Al-Khaleej firm, located in Singapore and affiliated to United Arab Emirates, supplied more than 4,500 tons of VX, sarin, and mustard gas precursors and production equipment to Iraq.[2]

A classic example of this - joebmc, is Sly's flick - Rambo III ! John Rambo was reprsenting the Americans there (of course) . . . helping the Afghans fight against the Soviets . . . looks like it's more for Osama Bin Laden issue and not Saddam Hussein me thinks

sure,this isn't a big secret,if you go to the right sources you will find the evidence as to who supplied what..Most of this information the U.S wants to see buried now for obvious reasons.

During the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq received the lion's share of American support because at the time Iran was regarded as the greater threat to U.S. interests. According to a 1994 Senate report, private American suppliers, licensed by the U.S. Department of Commerce, exported a witch's brew of biological and chemical materials to Iraq from 1985 through 1989. Among the biological materials, which often produce slow, agonizing death, were:
* Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax.
* Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin.
* Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord, and heart.
* Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs.
* Clostridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness.
* Clostridium tetani, a highly toxigenic substance
"Also on the list: Escherichia coli (E. coli), genetic materials, human and bacterial DNA, and dozens of other pathogenic biological agents. "These biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction," the Senate report stated. "It was later learned that these microorganisms exported by the United States were identical to those the United Nations inspectors found and removed from the Iraqi biological warfare program.
The report noted further that U.S. exports to Iraq included the precursors to chemical-warfare agents, plans for chemical and biological warfare production facilities, and chemical-warhead filling equipment.
The exports continued to at least November 28, 1989, despite evidence that Iraq was engaging in chemical and biological warfare against Iranians and Kurds since as early as 1984."

As you can (see above) The Mustard Gas was only a minor chemical agent,compared to what was supplied by the U.S...Although manufactured in Iraq,the raw materials for the mustard gas was supplied by the U.S...You can read the details of this and more
