First of all I think that nokevin saying "go fu** yourself" to somebody or dogmann saying "you are stupid and an idiot" to other member of the forum is absolutely unacceptable. IMO they deserve suspension from the forum. I would really like that owner of this forum say something about this kind of behaviour. We are supposed to overcome animal kingdom and bring forward a true human spirit of mutual respect.. There is a place to heal one's frustration, superiority complexs etc. and I don't think it's this forum.
About P990 I work in a bank ( accounting department) and need a good and reliable smarth phone. If I have messages and calls automatic management, calendar, tasks, alarm, fully functional email, wifi, internet, office (even power point editing), usb mass storage, dictionaries, etc, etc all smoothly working and helping me so much in daily activities without any problem then what should I say about my phone. So please if you don't like it don't buy it or return it and never ever go for a similar phone any more. It is as simple as that, but don't expect that everybody follow your example.
I see so many restless people here. One of them had M600 than sell it, bought a nokia, then bought a tytn and finally said he consider P990 (on my symbian forum). My point is that those people are never satisfied in reality, they are simply always in a search, always looking for something better. I wish them luck.

Good for you, koto. Could you please indulge my curiosity and post your phone's ORG and CDA firmware versions?

Why not koolezt.
Org:R4A13
CDA: 1620081/65 - Italy

I am waiting the newer fw to be available for my CD but as I can see it didn't bring much improvements.
You know nobody denied RAM and memory leak issue as looking on that no UIQ 3 phone is a finished product but overall functionality and behaviour is really fantastic with this fw (I also use smp and tp), simply can't complain if you understand me.

I'm really surprised, as I have always had to "babysit" my P990 with smp and tp. Firmware is always up-date , now on org r4b03, cda 162007/2 (gw), usage similar to yours but no presentation work and dictionaries. Clean-installed, reset, etc., still crashes and kern-execs. Stability did improve compared to org r4b13. Auto-restarts reduced from about 12 to 4 times weekly, latest habit is after linking from rss to web and scrolling, web kern-execs. I need your medicine.

@ koolezt
Mine is still a R4F01; there is no update available in Belgium.
Calling the helpdesk doesn't solve the problem because the guys at the desk are not wel trained, and even worse, they're likely coming from another planet. The moment you try to explain a technical problem like f.i. the fact that a bluetooth connection with a Mac G5 results in a crash, then you dive in to a world where there is no sound anymore at the other side of the phone ...

So, since a few months (in fact from the moment I bought my P990i) now I have the same problems as the most of you on this discussion forum: my phone crashes a few times a day. A Blackberry push results in a crash ... sending a few mails myself results in a crash ... connecting to a wifi hotspot and downloading my mail ... yes yes yes results in a crash ...
No need to go on I think ... what we need from SE is no blahblah, but boom boom

Actualy i had one auto reboot since update, and stopped using tp, the speed is finally decent with transitions on. But i do not use push email, i download my emails normaly via wifi and sync calendar via usb at home and work, so i reckon i may not have problems others have because of that. Tail, that can be true, but also true is people with bad opinion of a product are always much more active in showing theyre opinions on internet. I dont know how you know 9 in 10 people are insatisfied, i also know at least 5 other p990 users in the real world and they are happy with it. This lawsuit thing wont go anywhere because: no one forces people to buy and stay with the product; SE is actualy improving the firmware and didn't abandon the product; there are people unhappy, but there also lots of people happy with it. Finally there are people among us that are actually trying to make better things happen for p990 users, by constantly talking and demanding improvements to SE, talking to developers about software needs, etc, instead of loosing time with things like this

Bert I'm in Belgium too but have the latest fw on my P990 (World generic 1). I managed to upgrade yesterday... and the solution is HERE, have a look.

I really don't experience auto restarts at all but do manually restart it every 5th day. Right now I have full 3 days working, so another 24 hours and I'll restart it for better memory management. All I do is master reset after fw update not even internal disk format. Also I sacrifice calendar entries and send my contacts via email (no regular backup at all).
I do experience opera crashes occasionally and that's my only expectation for the next fw but I use wifi and internet very hard (believe it or not I almost stopped using my PC at home regarding browsing).
Smart phone dictionaries are must have for my job as I get a headache using regular one:).

@Tail
I do understand problems people have with the phone. They can search here for some advice in order to solve it (many people like Ares are willing to help) or do as your wife and her friends and get rid of it. If SE goes down because of a bad product and people returns they absolutely deserve it, time will tell. All I know is that my phone is working according to my need. Fortunately I am not the only one as it would be really freaky:)) (look at the thread 'why I love my P990' for example.
