So when is this thing being announced? I have already put my P990i on Ebay and waiting for this phone...I'll be pissed if I get rid of the P990i and this turns out to be a Hoax

Sounds like heart ruling head ...........
From what I hear this "p700" is just one of a number of prototypes being trialled, no firm decision has been taken on which one will eventually be chosen as a production version I await with baited breath!

Still nothing today eh???

It's the first UIQ phone that I'm really excited about. The P990i was good, but after using the M600i and thinking that all that was missing was a good camera, this is going to be a one great phone for me. Is it taking this long because of UIQ or you think it has something to do with Hardware testing???

@ tkao - the announcement is this evening - from 6pm UK time. It's not late, nothing's been held up, it's all perfectly to schedule.

That said, it will probably be MONTHS before anything reaches the market. It wouldn't matter if the P700 was 100% perfected and ready to roll (which by most accounts it is) - it will only be released when it makes good business sense to do so. Not when there are still piles of P990's in the warehouses, for example.

I know SE reps have been into certain Vodafone stores with the P700 and some have had a brief play with it so I'm hoping it can't be too far from release but with SE who knows.

I've been waiting for a worthy phone to upgrade to for ages now and this seems to be it... was close to considering the N95 but if this is on the horizon I'll hold out for it instead.

Good to know, but I really hope they don't delay the phone like the P990i....all the excitement and build up and than nothing for months kills the promotion of the phone. I for one hope that SE has learned and will release the phones closer to announcement. No UIQ phones have been released this year and I think it should be quick!
