I agree it 's a bugger but my point is that who deserves preference? Dpad users who want a better camera than the W850/880 offers, or joystick users who want a better walkman player than the K800 offers?

I read somewhere that SE research indicated that the majority of users who buy phones for the camera prefer joysticks and that the majority of users who buy phones primarily as a Walkman prefer the dpad. I guess this would explain the joystick placement in predominately camera focused models.

im satisfied with my K800 though it has joystick. the problem is, can u imagine a K800 with D-PAD? D-PAD does take lot of space and it's not possible for K800 as it has larger screen than other. (not the largest though). i personally like W550 D-pad cause it's so comfortable and spacious, the curve also useful as my finger won't slide around. prefer it than W900, S700, W810, W850, K610.

maybe we should see what's the upcoming K850 or W910 will be using. It'd be great if it does use D-PAD, but the design will have to match...

btw it'd be the best if SE use touchpad like LG chocolate so no people would complain...

touch pad isnt LG's thing. it isnt any body's thing. SE can make one if they want. but then again SE should've a lot of things they didnt.

I never had problems with joysticks in my previous phone like W800i,K800i so i have no problems with joysticks

touchpad is no better than a dpad from a usability point of view. People who prefer joysticks won'tbe satisfied witha touchpad.

@qvga, you seem very bitter about SE. How about you "go over to the darkside" and use Nokia for a while, you'll find they are no better (or worse than SE.

LOL, no, i own both SE and nokia. SE for far isnt introducing anything thats new, so currently i am using nokia. Who knows, with a revolutionary SE, i might get that one and sell my nokia.

Of the phones I've had experience with - Z600, K700i, S700i, V800 and V630i, only the K700i has had a joystick and that began to malfunction after 10 months. By 18 months it wouldn't scroll down at all. All the D-pads have been great including my wifes 3 1/2 year old Z600 which is still in use. My sons S700 (bought recently second-hand) works fine too.

In fact, I'd say the V630i D-pad is the best, it looks like a joystick, feels like a joystick but works reliably like a D-pad. It also has very fine circular ridges engraved on it which look and feel great!

I've gotta go with the joystick, I'm afraid(I'm an old-school gamer)...

.....and my K700/W800/K800 are all still being used by their respective owners, working joysticks and all(I like my phones to go to good homes)!
