I was in Barcelona for a conference in 2004 with my new (at the time) P900, and had come out for some coffee at Starbucks one afternoon. As I sat at a table with my laptop in front of me and phone on the laptop's right side, this little kid came in from the street and walked right up to my table. He held out a piece of cardboard which had 'I am an orphan. Please give me some money for food' written on it, in several languages. I looked at his face and he had tears in his eyes, looking totally sorrowful and pathetic. So I felt a bit sorry for him and gave him some change I had in my pocket, and he took it and ran off. I went back to my laptop and was sitting around for maybe 10 minutes when I realized my phone was gone. There was a moment of disbelief, and then I shouted "F***!" and got up and ran out on the street, but he was gone of course.
The little bastard had snuck my P900 into his pocket from underneath the cardboard he was holding out in front of me, above the phone. Very stealthy indeed - I was totally pwned.
Happened to me in London at KFC, but I sussed it as the phone was half way and I grabbed the little shits hand and twisted it, screamin like I girl as much as I didnt want to let go, I couldnt stand my zinger meal going cold.

yeah, one time i was sitting in a freaking Gaming Zone, u know hanging out playing counter strike and all, when suddenly real armed gun men came in and robbed the whole place.. we were held as hostages for about 2 hours.. we gave all our money around 1k or 1.5k rs i dun even remember now, they also took the money from the cashbox around 25k and last but not least
THE CELLPHONES..
they took about above 65 cellphones packed it all in the bag and ran away on two Honda 125cc bikes..!! those cools, i lost my true love 6030..!!! :/

the last 2 year 2 kids died refusing to give away their mp3 or mobile phone! the thiefs are the same ones you find in most european country's.
i know europe doesn't allow us to point the finger, but i'm sure all of you are smart enough that know which people i'm pointing my finger.

Nice thread, just like a pocket guide to tourists. Here in Lima-Peru thieves use to "work" with your fear (2 or more guys) or your distraction (dragnrun). My best recommendation is no to use a cellphone (mainly expensive ones) at the streets, and prefer gettin into some building to use it.
Anyway, I can't say I don't enjoy when ppl who likes make a show using them, talk with speaker and loud in front of you, listen to music without headphones, etc... get their cellphones robbed

one of my friends had a really really old LG cellphone, it was sorta big in size + blue screen and everything..robbers snatched the fone, then after 3-4 mins they came back, gave him a tite slap returned the fone and left

Luckily for us in Szl thugs have not been that cruel. At most cell phones here would be stolen by foreigner to sell them in teir coolries. But sometines they would hire the local thugs. Thez simy knock off your phone after you have befriended them.

I generally feel safe with my phone, maybe it's the way i look, I don't know. If someone did have a go, I'd have a propper good go back at em. I don't like that kind of scum hanging round.
