To be honest I bought P990 perfectly understanding its memory limitation and never regret it. And after one or two fm I realised that it will not change. So although I bark at SE regarding their decision to stop suporting P990 in reality I am very satisfied P990 owner and dont have any problem to use it another year or 1.5 until next P series comes. It simply do wonders for me so how can I be unhappy.

I think you are the happiest owner of P990i. I am happy too if somebody is happy but not with P990i. I still believe that there is room for improvement though limited memory issue will remain for ever. Improvement so far is the proof. Problem now is that SE doesn't want to spend a penny to improve P990, not it can't.

Well i'm happy user too. Actually, i will see p1 tomorrow (a prototype, i will just check it, my friend is a developer).
But i must say - p990 is a superb tool. Yes it has flaws, but in fact i'm able to do very many things with my phone. I work only on p990, i almost don't use any pc.

Yah, I think I'm looking forward to it... though, there if there is one thing that I will miss, it's the hiresolution screen on my current PDA... the P990i is 240x320, right? Because, my current device is 480x320, which is great for browsing webpages, if the tethered connection wasn't so slow or unreliable... But I think I'll find a way to get used to it...

By the way, does anyone have any experience on firmware changes as in, installing a firmware that wasn't originally meant for your region? My P990i is coming from the States, but I might want to install the Singapore firmware on it to gain access to Chinese support. I've read a little bit about this, but, has anyone actually done it with success here? Is it safe? I don't want to muck up my new phone right out of the box...

Most impressive. I plan to buy a P990i in the next few month. I have been using my P900 for 3.5 years now and am very happy with it. I just love the P series style and the flip. One hand operation for calls.

@rcxAsh

You can look this thread up to change your CDA to S'pore Generic:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=130758

There are 2 small files that you need to find, download and swap in the default SEUS folder which you'll know in detail once you read through the thread. It's fairly simple, quite safe but just a bit tedious. Remember to save your back up so that if anything goes wrong, you can revert back to the old CDA. I flashed from S'pore Generic to World Generic 1 successfuly. You can do it vice-versa. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, mode. I had read about that briefly earlier, but I notice that some people are reporting that their phone becomes locked after trying it (it asks them for a SIM lock code or something?) Because of these, I'm a little uncertain whether or not I should try it. My CDA is currently world generic 2. Also, I vaguely recall reading that after changing your CDA, it actually just tags the new CDA string to your existing one, so you end up having multiple CDAs. Is this true? Are there any consequences of this?

Edit: Incidentally, I received my P990i yesterday! Going to take a while to get used to getting around, but I'm liking it so far.

Getting screwed up CDA's is just a process that you need to go through. Essentially you have to go through 3 cycles of updates. You'll have the multiple CDA's in the 2nd cycle, but the 3rd cycle should fix it. I didn't have any significant problems flashing, just that SEUS had a hard time detecting the screwed up fw version from my 2nd cycle which kept me from completing the 3rd one. A bit of persistence is needed here, I had to restart SEUS and even my notebook a few times before I managed to complete the final cycle. I have a GW2 too and it works a treat, actually did the flash for my dad. AFAIK, the phone won't be locked after the flash, unless it was already locked to start with which disappoints some hopefuls who think their phones would get unlocked. The process merely de-brands them.

it's nice to hear some from the people with wide understandings in P990 rather than those who always barks and criticize the negative side of the phone without even a little consent

As mode explain to you it is a step towards a real CDA change. I used kulekendi (or something like that) to change my CDA 65 to CDA 1. First attempt and I got 2 CDAs after which I tried to flash my phone with the new fw but SEUS recognized only CDA 65. So I did it another time and then SEUS recognized world generic 1 so after new flashing I ended with only CDA 1.
