You must be a 'power user' then, lol. I have no need for such a function but I can see that in certain circumstances someone might.

The problem is, most P1i users will be "power users", by your definition - it's marketed as a high-end business phone after all. Most professionals will occasionally need to find someone by their company, or their location, rather than by their actual name.

You're right. This is a real lack...

But there are more lacks... EDGE is one of them

Regarding power users.... It seems that SE made this phone for dummy business users, not for power users.

I'm a power user who gives a second chance to the P1i. I had one branded by a provider. It had a lot of bugs... I have now one unbranded.

Unfortunately, it really seems that UIQ 3 phones are just good for business users. Power users who install 3rd party application, use all feature of the phone and expect it to run smoothly so seem to all be disappointed.

The P1i to me just seems a nice phone for the average user. Yes it's a smartphone but it seems to me to be a last generation smartphone. I like the camera (yes, really!) and I like the form factor, keypad and screen. No handset satisfies everyone, none of them. The P1i to me has acceptable build quality, it looks nice and it does the basic functions very well. I can browse the internet over wifi and I can take decent snaps (for a phone). People who want more should have bought a windows mobile or the N95 - neither of which would have suited me. Windows mobiles usually have poor cameras, the form factor is dull and the N95 is built like a toy - all of this left me with the P1i which I'm happy with, for another 10 months.

I was hopping SE fixed that flaw:

I can't do anything, anything at all while I receive or send a file with bluetooth or other connection. I have to wait till it ends. You can't even turn down the volume or lock the keys (it locks automatically tough).

Music player is a mess too. You have to touch the screen to navigate and the icons are way small. I wish you could change the track with the keyboard.

And the last thing is when you browse in landscape mode and after you install a program through browser; when you open it from there (I realize that I only installed java apps.) it runs in landscape mode and you can't reach all of the icons on the screen. You have to quit the program in order to restart it. cause you can't reach any other menus.

Despite everything, the phone rocks. I migrate from P900 and I can't believe the size, design and the software with that amount of RAM. It is absolutely flawless

I had my new P1i supplied by SEUnlock and as always their service is perfect, this one operates perfectly (unlike the one supplied to me by Expansys!)

The only niggle I have with this device is the lack of a proper search function in contacts.
I have 796 individual contacts at present and sometimes I need to search for a code common to a group of contacts, something I cannot do with the P1i.

Given the device is actually a P990i with more memory and nicer form factor I find it hard to believe that it is beyond the wit of the SE developers to install this feature in future SW releases.

Come on we are paying, you start listening.

It does have the 2 main profiles, general and silent mode and the # shortcut to change between them, which is all I ever use.

What I'm not too happy about is the missing play/pause button. If se had put play/pause as an option for the @ shortcut would have been good but I guess they want you to buy a remote.

One of my main concerns is Opera 8. Opera 9 has iphone scrolling, widgets and its unlikely you'd be able to buy opera 9 separately even if you wanted to. For op 8, I've seen the shortcuts and theres refresh, back would be backspace but what's the shortcut for forward? And is there a way to do complete fullscreen, without the 3 buttons at the bottom?

The head phones have a pause button, try it!

@londonlad123
What do you mean with iphone scrolling?
Do you mean that which you can drag the screen by just tapping on it? Or do I missing something =)
